I have posted this thread in another forum but didnt get any replies, sorry.....

To make a long story short, I haven't been particuarly happy with my service from Cingular. The Customer Service is decent, but my major complaint is with the signal quality/service. I am looking into alternative providers and have researched the various frequency types, CDMA, GSM etc and just want opinions on what service provider is best for me. I am not a data user at all, I have a laptop w/air card and a Blackberry for that(both for work), so my personal phone is strictly used for calling friends/family and not using internet on it etc. So in my instance, using the phone for voice, would it be better to find a CDMA provider compared to what im using now...

Have you not looked at damn near every thread below yours hacking the hell out of Cingular. I've tried Cingular in my area and it sucks big time. If you want to experience as few problems as possibe go with Verizon. Im not a cingular hater at all, they just have to many problems going on right now. Just go get the Moto e815 and verizons exceptional network and you'll be good to go!

aside from the comments from the captain of the Verizon cheerleading team, one question i have for you is what area code do you live in. maybe your phone itself is a problem. if a cingular rep here could see the coverage we could give you an honest answer to why you are having problems.

I have been in almost daily contact with Reps and they continue to tell me nothing is wrong in my area. My phone number is a 772 area code but I recently moved, so I reside in a 352 area. If you really want to get more specific I live in a 34476 zip code. There is a huge Cingular call center maybe 7-8 miles from where I live, I have been tempted going there and raising hell. (jk) 😁

The funny thing is that its always one extreme or another, either full service or none at all. And when placing/recieving a call it will go from full service to nothing. And I havent completely ruled out my phone thats the issue, but its funny how my fiance's phone is experiencing the same exact issues. Two phones going bad at the same time? I think...

Your right it is unlikely that both phones went at the same time but it wouldn't be the strangest thing i've heard of especialy if they are the same phone and you bought them at the same time (came from the same batch). If your phone is under warranty you could attempt a warranty exchange. If you are eligible for discount off a phone you could try a new phone. Keep in mind that Cingular has a 30 day return policy so if the new phone is still having problems you take it back and they revert your contract back to the old one and you now know it's cingular and not your phone. Then you try someone else and take advantage of that company's return policy to see if they work for you. I think it might be your phone because if there were site pr...

Speedbump, it's time to look for another provider. Sounds like you are in a marginal area. Ask your friends, neighbors, co-workers, etc. who is best & try that service. Just remember that if you don't like your new provider, you'll need to return the equipment, packaging & everything before the trial period is over. In so many words or less, get what works best for you where you use it the most.

Don't port until you find a provider you want to keep, provided you wish to keep your number. If you are currently in contract, you'll have to weigh the difference between buying out your contract or waiting til it expires.
