Cingular Reps and other gurus help me out

michael o

I am looking at two phones. Siemens M75 and Nokia 5140. I need a phone that will work on the boat and take the occasional splash.

Siemens- only works on the 1900mhz band. Since I am in NC from what I understand I will be fine but I can't use the phone to roam outside of the carolina region. So, I will keep a cheap backup to use in the 850 mhz region.

Nokia- It does have a 850 band but the reviews haven't been as good as the Siemens.

What do you guys think? I'm currently a month to month customer, is it possible to find a cingular shop that will give me a deal on these phones if I sign a new contract? Neither phone is listed on the web site.

Unfortunately they have no phones that are not waterproof but in eastern NC I would probably recommend alltel.

According to the website they don't. Wouldn't I be roaming all the time? I didn't see any phones like the M75 or 5140 listed. What would you suggest?

This guy is just a troll. Don't worry about replying to him, he has no interest in your problem.

As far as the discounted phone goes, a Cingular stores won't be able to help you with either of these handsets. To my knowledge neither is carried by them. You could renew and use your discount for that cheap dual band phone for outside the Carolinas.

Good luck.

I know this is an oldie-but-goodie, but what about the Nokia 6340i, the GAIT phone??!! It works TDMA and GSM. There's some used ones out there that are in excellent shape! Just a thought!
