Please advise.

I just got a RAZR (more than 60 days) and my contract is on the att plan.

I asked Cingular about moving to thier contracts....no problem there, but i need to buy a new phone!

My SIM is ATT, but my phone is engraved on the back with cingular.

They won't unlock the SIM or exchange.

what are my options....I can't send the phone to an ebay phone unlocker.

thanks

SIMs can't be unlocked.

You shouldnt have to buy a new phone. If the phone is Cingular branded then you should be able to just pop in a Cingular SIM card and be good to go. Tell them you are migrating to Cingular and already have a Cingular phone. The rep you spoke to clearly does not know what they are doing.

its "says' cingular ob the outside, but it probobly has "blue" software on it. we can't use the ATTW name anymore, that's why.

phones get unlocked, not SIMs. and yes, there are places to get the phone unlocked for a small fee.

ekohn.. easy answer. go to a cingular store and ask a rep to put his/her sim in the phone and see if it works. chances are it was unlocked before you got it if ur sim works in it.

So it's a Cingular phone and your trying to use an AT&T SIM card? If that is the case, there's your problem. That's like using a T-Mobile SIM in a Cingular phone. If you want to migrate your existing number to Cingular then you need a Cingular SIM card. Basically you can go to a store and buy a SIM card and they can migrate you there as a customer owned and maintained device or you can call Cingular customer care (not former AT&T care) and they can migrate you over the phone. If you do decide to go into a store make certain that they do not try to give you a new number. I have seen this happen soooo many times. Good luck!
