I have a nokia 7150i and live in the Nashville, TN area. It operates on a 900/1800/1900 band and it is always on cingular extend. This means I can't access web services or mms, or I assume this is why niether work. Will this phone ever work here, is there anything I can do?

What market is your phone registered in? The only time it says Cingular extend is if you are on another companies tower. Even then, MMS, GPRS, and other services should work with the 1900 band. Your settings in the phone may be incorrect.

I took the phone into a cingular store and they looked at it and said it they have never seen it and it won't work here. Who can set it properly?

In the nashville market, Cingular uses 850 band. So your phone will not work completely in the Nashville market. Now, if you were to move to knoxville, they use 900 band, so your phone should work there.....Where did you get the phone? Were you in a different market before? Do you know that since you are roaming on other companies towers you can be charged a service fee for more than 50% of your usage being off Cingular's network for 3 consecutive months or more, even if you have a no roaming no long distance plan.

ps....The none of Cingular's phone's features will not work if they roam off of T-mobile or Dobson Communications (Cellular One) in the KY/West TN/IN markets. I do not understand why, but it seems that our phones are not programmed to interact for any feature than voice on their systems, even though the phone dials in to the server to make a web connection.

there is nothing you can do man, like I stated earlier, its not 1900, its 850 in middle and west TN. I suggest that you sell that phone online and get a phone from the store. I would never recommend getting a phone from online like e-bay. I have looked into getting myself several phones online, but you can never get the truth out of the dealers on there which service it works on if it had multiple versions for different carriers. Did you already have a SIM that you just stuck in there, cause I don't even see how it activated if you didn't.

If you are going to post something, then make it intelligible and a complete sentence, instead of blurting out something that makes no sense

the guy said 900 band, there is no 900 band in the us, only 1900. If you read all the post, you would know what i meant.

Thank you for correcting me when I typed 900 instead of 1900.......Failed to catch that myself......and didn't mean to post a bitchy response, just that I needed to take out some fustration and you were an easy target since you didn't complete a sentence. 🙂 But yeah, 1900 band is not in the Gensesis markets of KY, W & Cent. TN for Cingular service, ergo, you need to replace your phone zjc2a.
