I heard that Cingular wants to close all the corporate stores and sell thier service solely through agents. And last week they ran thier largest agent, PCS Division, out of businuess. So how do they plan on selling thier products and services to people if theres no one to sell them? Where are customers supposed to go if they have a technical issue? I really hope they arnt planning on selling alot through radio shack that they recently cut a deal with, cause those guys are the worst salesmen ever. I think i know more about verizon plans and phones than the radioshack guys do, and i dont even work for verizon or have a verizon phone. So anyone know, what is cingular planning on doing?

yeah dude i know they are dumping verizon for cingular, read what i posted. What i said was radio shack has verizon right now and they have the worst verizon salesmen ever. if cingular is planning on having radioshack be thier main sales outlet once radioshack starts selling thier service, they are going to lose so many new acts and probably a ton of current customers as well. go to a radioshack and ask a salesmen to help you and see how much they can tell you. Last time i was there asking about verizon the guy started showing me sprint phones. I asked him "wait, arent these all sprint phones?" and he said "oh yeah! the verizon phones must be on the other side of the display case." And yes, this was thier cell phone salesmen, not just s...

so let me get this straight. They are going to close almost 1800 stores? Going to get rid of the one channel that has nearly a majority of the acts and features, not to mention the lower end of the churn ratio

I haven't heard anything on it, but it would make sense. They've been opening up a lot of new resources to us agents and cutting back what they do at Corporate stores. The last person I talked to said they didn't have telligence in their stores anymore, they're using POS.COMII like we do.

I wouldn't mind it at all, since my company has VERY high ratings with shoppers. It would just divert all of the corporate traffic into the company I work for.

It really doesnt make any sense, especially since they are spending the money to put OPUS in all of the CARE markets Blue stores. The Cor stores bring in the most activations out of everyone.

Cingular is not closing all of its retail stores... I have no idea why anyone would think that a carrier would try to reduce its exposure to the general public in such a huge way once it already has over 1800 stores. Stores don't have full access to the billing system anymore because they don't need it. They can do new activations and have basic read only access to some parts of a customer's account.
