Is anyone aware of any issues that would prevent a Cingular customer from checking thier voicemail while roaming on a partnership coverage network?

If Cingular has roaming agreements with that carrier then nothing will happen. The only time you will not have service is when there is absolutely no coverage around.

Now this doesn't make any since to me whatsoever, but, a friend just returned his Nokia 6230 and cancled his Cingular service because he could not CHECK his voicemail. He said everytime he pressed #1 or even dialed his phone number from his phone, he would get a message from the partnership network (Endless Mountain Wireless) stating that he could not use this service or something like that. He asked the store rep what the problem was and she said that he couldn't check his messages while using thier towers. He had to be on a Cingular tower. So he returned the phone and canceled his service. I am waiting for my phone to show up, and if this is true, it sucks. Since 70% of the time I would be using the partnership coverage towers.

I've been on romaing networks all over the place with no issues... and if worse comes to worse, you can call your own number and interrupt the messaging to get the messages

Thanks for the replies.

Hopefully there isn't an issue.. I should have my phone tonight, so I'll see then for sure.

He said he had done that as well and got the same message from Endless Mountains Wireless.

I coudn't understand how it would be possible for him not to get into his voicemail, since in reality, you should be able to call form pretty much any phone in the world and access it, right?

Thanks again,

Actually it depends on the carrier yes sometimes when you roam you may experience difficulties retrieving vm especial in Canada or on T mobiles network, and maybe others. Roaming agreements keep you from getting roaming charges or to make voice calls. other features cannot be guaranteed.

Ok.. got my phone last night.

It appears as though there is a small issue, but, its easy enough to work around. If I press and hold #1 to access my voicemail on the partnership tower, I get a message from the partner saying that the wireless subscriber did not pick up. I get the same message if I dial my phone number with the area code. But if I dial my phone number without the area code, it works fine. Not really sure why it would act like that, but, as long as I can access it, I'm happy.
