How does one expect us to trouble shoot incoming calls while you are on the phone that is having the problem?

I just wish customers would think a little bit. I've had cust call in asking why if they're on a 39.99 plan why they're being charged 45 something. Always the same answer. The thing that just boggles my mind is why didn't you call in about this when you first got this plan back in 2003, why call in now. And why do you think you don't have to pay taxes.

Most of those "extra" charges are bogus profit and you know it. Kind of like the "doc" fees when buying a car......The car sales and Wireless industry have a lot in common...No wonder they are at the bottom of the customer satisfaction barrels respectively.rges $39 a month NO MORE. Or $69 unlimited day night whatever NO MORE...no taxed Fed this or that....

YOu think all the customers are dumb? They are fed the $39 per month price then get a bill for $45..Go figure. $5 TAX? I think not... If Suncon can price what they davertise certainly Cingular can, instead of misleading the general public....No no no YOU should think a little....

The most bogus tax is the regulatory cost recovery tax i called it the call center phone bill tax because that is where it goes.

The Regulatory Programs Fee is not a tax or government requirement (it even says so in the T's & C's). Yes, it is an additional amount the carrier(s) add to the bills. But it's used to maintain/update the network infrastructure and comply with government mandates (including 911 regulations and Local Number Portability).

If that fee (the only extra fee on the bill that is NOT from the government) is really that much of a problem, I would reccommend writing a letter to your carrier's corporate management expressing your concerns and questions. To be honest, that's about all that can be done, though.

Basically, the government woke up one day and realized, hey, theres over 100 million people that we could tax the crap out of, and they wont blame us, they'll blame their service provider, and there you go, bills in New York City, the total taxes are almost 20% of the entire bill, thats insanity!!!

Yes, taxes are not fairly assessed in my opinion. But it is not profit for the carrier.

Suncom can do that all they want, but are you getting the same for $39.99 there than you do here? NO...oh, wait Suncom doesn't even HAVE a plan below $69.00!!! That's crappy if you ask me. I don't need unlimited minutes, give me 450 for $39.99 plus tax anyday over $69.00 flat. Not to mention everytime I've had to call Suncom's CS dept. I've gotten rude reps who pass the buck the first chance they get. So much for "we get it". Add a crappy network on top of that (at least here in NC) and it's SOOOO not worth it to have taxes added in!

I agree that the "regulatory cost recovery fee" is basically profit, but hey, if profit builds towers then they can have $1.25 per month. Long as my service only continues to get better!

While I'm bitchin about Suncom...what's this $30/line add-a-line thing?!?!?! That's a lot of $$ when you're already ponyin up $69 for the first line.

Not to mention why does the monthly service charge change depending on the length of your contract?!?!?! Perhaps because they know that they won't be able to keep anyone longer than a year on a 1yr contract and wanna gouge them for as much as possible?

Don't believe me? Here's the link:

I guess if you only stay for one year then they charge you the taxes, which would come out around 75 bucks like the plan is. Looking at that coverage map though, its just pathetic. Instead of paying Connick Jr. for endorsements, they need to spend that money on expanding their coverage. Theres no way he uses their service.

Some cities in California charge up to SIX BUCKS per month for 911 fees--don't blame the carrier, blame those jokers you voted into office if you don't like the taxes! 🙄

If I'm going to have to pay $6 bucks a month for e911 services, I'd rather carry around a flare gun for every time I have a problem.

Probably be a darned sight cheaper, and if the flare gun sets off a brush fire you'll get a quicker response from the fire department!

Speaking of brush fires, I recently witnessed an extremely young kitten flee a small brush fire in North Florida. I stopped my car and practically tackled the cat...which I lovingly named "Maggie" (I'm a big Simpson's fan). She's now a proud member of my family.

Maine Coon cats can get ridiculously big...I've got a buddy that took a male off me when I couldn't keep him in college. He's only half coon, but damn is he a monster. His dad's downright scary. As of right now, Maggie joins Satan (my male tabby), Santa's Little Helper (my Jack Russell), and my 1 and a half year old son, Grayson (yes, that's right...it's Grayson).

Of course you call them back. But what makes them think you can troubleshoot the issue? It'd be like asking a mechanic to figure out what's wrong with your car while you're driving the car.
