YOU CAN'T HAVE A FREE RAZR!

I have taken five calls today from customer that have seen a free RAZR on a third party retailer, and wanted me to honor that price. Granted we are the web match dept, but WE CAN NOT MATCH THIRD PARTY SITES! And three of these five were transfered over from care (I look at the notes), and the rep notes that she can't offer it but transfered to a dept that can. WE CAN ONLY OFFFER CINGULAR.com prices! Please tell all your care friends that if they want the Free Razr they have to go through that website. And if they are migrating, and they are in contract unless they cancel with the ETF they can not get it. Errrr.

Ha ha..today one of my co-workers recieved a call from a guy that went through a third party (wirefly I think) and his credit card company called him because he had a fraud alert on his account. Turns out he was charged 600 dollars instead of having the RAZR and accessory for free. Ouch! The 199.99 doesn't look so bad right now does it? Plus he called us wanting him to credit his account $600! Sorry buddy, you should have learned. Plus on top of that he never had cancelled with his blue account, so he was going to have to pay an ETF to avoid paying for two cell phone services. Yikes!

I have some things to say about those 3rd party websites. FIRST, BUYER BEWARE! Second, Sometimes you are required to sign 2 contracts, one with Cingular, and one with that 3rd party seller to insure you won't deactivate service with Cingular, therefore causing a chargeback to that 3rd party provider. Third, those 3rd party providers send the phone out fully activated! If the shipping address is wrong, or if it is delivered to the wrong place and a dishonest person signs for it, then they just got a free phone under a different name than their own. LASTLY, look on those web-sites and tell me if you see a customer service number other than Cingular. I bet you won't, and if you do, the service you'd receive is below par. When it comes to phone ...
