calling all former AT&t wireless reps
I am a rep that has always been orange and a union member. My question to all former blue reps do you reps want to join the union or not?
...
I have been thinking about it but I need to know if my pay will go up when the center becomes part of the union. I dont want to be in the same position that I am in.... I am a good rep. 100% quality and PAR is ok but I need to know am I going to have to wait 6 months to get a raise to where the reps who have already been orange are at....
...
at our center we can actually get fired if we mention starting a union. (blue) apparently we are not "allowed" to start a union as we are a no union environment. seems like an intimidation tactic
...
Are you a third party rep?
...
nope! call center - used to be blue, now we're blue and orange cingular beuc.
...
Wow would u join a union? I am not pro-union nor am i against the union just asking.

I worked for a union in my last job. it can work for and against you. It was great because they stand behind you 100% in conflict, so it's great for job security. The downfall is I paid quite alot in union dues, and seniority comes first over job quality. so there's pros and cons.

Unions are for companies that don't treat employees well; if you treat your employees well with good pay, good benefits, good recognition of performance programs and bonuses, you don't need a union. Funny how unions only show up when employers treat their employees like sh*t and have to negotiate EVERYTHING...like PAY INCREASES! It's interesting that AT&T Wireless never needed one - oh that's right! They knew the value of a worker! They weren't more concerned about the value of a dollar!

And to go along with rep12345, when you are union it is all about seniority...I'd rather have me selected as a floor manager with my few years experience than some dumb a**wipe leader intern who is a complete fool who doesn't know their own a** from a hole in the ground. But since they have seniority, they'd get the position.
I'd rather keep my pay that I have now. We'd get a nice cost of living raise (maybe $0.25) but then lose it in union dues.
UNIONS STAY AWAY FROM FORMER BLUE CENTERS!!! WE DON'T WANT YOU!!!

depends, if they can make sure my commision check is cut ontime and accuratly, it may be worth the dues so I dont have an extra $60 to $80 in take backs on the same features. If not, nope, dont want to join the cwa because the contract with cingular is worded entirely too vaguely and makes it easier to get a$$ raped by cingular.
