Thinking abut switching....

I am currently with Verizon and live on Long Island, NY. I was wondering how cingulars reception was compared to verizons in this area. I have had no problem with verizon, just their lack of bluetooth phones. Is bluetooth really worth the switch? I currently see a deal on Wirefly for a free razr with bt headset included. I would have to cancel my verizon contract ($175) and shell out another $200 upfront for the phone when my contract is up at the end of January. What should I do? Please help.

The Motorola v551. Anything the RAZR can do, the v551 can do better and cheaper.

The v551 has video capture capabilities as well as EDGE High-Speed Data.

You've got a 30 days buyers remorse, if you cancel service within 3 days you have your $36 activation fee waived.
Keep both services active. If you like VWZ better, cancel your service with Cingular, request return labels and send back the phone to the website to get credit. If you like Cingular better, just cancel your VWZ account.
Keep in mind too, that if you want to port in your Verizon # keep it active until you start service with Cingular.

Not too sure, which is why I suggest the 30 day policy. If you find that the quality of the calls is clearer, you enjoy the functions of the equipment, stay with Cingular and cancel your Verizon service [possibly port in your number so you dont have to confuse your faithful followers by giving them a new mobile number to reach you ;)]. If you find no improvement and no need to switch, cancel your cingular service under buyers remorse, send all the equipment back for whatever refund. Of course you'd be responsible for all charges, fees [including activation, but it may be credited back but not after 3 days I believe, before then, it can be credited back] and usage. Go into a local store, check out the phones but I'd definitely suggest going o...

I love my BT /Mpx220. Around the house I just carry the ear piece in my pocket. When it rings I can answer it from 30 feet away. The file transfer is great. I would not have a phone without BT. Even my T637 is great with the Moto earpiece and you can make calls from the BT headset on that phone.....

Verizon is fine if you need analog service. But GSM is pretty much everywhere there are a lot of people and on all the major freeways with a few holes here and there. I think the benefits of GSM and the phone choices, SIM flexibility, (I use two phones, just swap the SIM) FAR outweigh the occasional dropped call and network issues now and then.

The Long Island area has pretty good Cingular coverage and even better AT&T coverage, so you shouldn't have any issues with our coverage in the area, granted it wont be problem free, but it should be plenty for you to be able to use your phone just about anywhere without to many issues.

Is bluetooth really worth the switch?

depends on how you percieve it. Bluetooth is basically a wireless way to do something you can already do via cables, mms, and email on most phones. Sort of like a convential PC router vs. a wireless router. Nice feature to have but not something I would really base a company switch on.
