Attitude Problem

Hello Moto

Jun 16, 2005, 12:30 PM
You know, reading all the post on here, some of the people that work for Cingular have some real attitude problems. If someone comes on here stating a problem they have had with Cingular, or are asking a question, is it really necessary to belittle them and throw personal attacks? If you work for Cingular, you should try and help or at least let them know where to go to get help instead of treating customers like dirt. Yes it is true that there are numerous customers out there that do not deserve the respect that they are given, but, instead of going of on a tangent and making it worse, why not try to help. If most of the people on here are reps as they claim to be I really hope you don't answer the phones as you do replies here. Take it wit...

I agree... and disagree with that. I don't think we should personally attack customers that ask questions on here- wether we are at home or at work we are still representing the company that we work for. Sharing stories about the nasty customers that called in and called us every name in the book- i think it's a way to gain release. but no- we definately should not belittle the customers asking questions on here- but hey- i guess it doesn't really matter, it's a public forum and freedom of speach prevails.

We are not obligated to be polite on forum, and actually should not be expected to be polite.
We need to vent, and you are sitting in the air duct.

This is true, except you left out one detail. Especially in that "Cingular thinks they are above the law" thread, that steve76536 or whatever started calling the reps down before and after they gave him a solution. So here we have a problem with an inflammatory customer and under appreciated reps. How is this the reps issue? So we have attitudes, huh? Well, ok buddy, maybe. And I know there are a few (cough cough, THE BOX, cough cough) that just hop onto a reply and start calling people down. True. But that doesn't happen most times. Reps dis other reps, reps complain about customers, but reps do not out-and-out insult customers unless they are being unreasonable, or make remarks about how us reps are insufficient. So blah!

That's why the deffensive tone. If you don't like the way this forum works go elsewhere. This is our forum if you want to participate you will do so as the community sees fit. And as far as common decency I don't think that one person can dictate what that is. It is subjective and counter intuitive for a group to accept one persons definition. You want to be part of this group, that's fine, but your role will be defined by the group, the group will not be defined by your role.

That might work as an analogy if this were YOUR "dinner table," which it is not, or if you had "invited" all the reps here with some expectation of what their role would be, which it's not in your purview to do. This is a public area which belongs to someone else, the people here are just generally hanging out doing whatever it is they do, and all of a sudden some tiny Napoleon comes into the scene demanding that everyone start behaving according to his expectations, which apparentl...

I mean right or wrong it's there rightin your face. People seem to think that because we have cellphones and laptops, and cable, that we are above instincts. I'm sorry that's not how it works we're at our best/worst when we're bashing eachothers heads in over oil, a mate, a cellphone bill, or cellphone that doesn't work just the way we want it to, and no amount of politically correct protesting, forum posting, or Bush bashing is going to change the fundamentals of who and what we are...animals with fancy gadgets. So yes the last rotten customer will leave me with a bad attitude ready to do battle with the next jag that dares to beep into my phone.

The common standard of decency in this forum is obviously a different standard than you are prepared to deal with.

You dont need to worry about representing Cingular here. I am sure that the few customers savvy enough to make it this far on phonescoop are not the same idiots who cant figure out why the phone doesnt have a dial tone. With some exceptions obviously.(cingular above the law) 3 times.
Do you think the Verizon reps are talking about how intelligent an well mannered their customers are.
