New conract if purchase a phone at Best Buy?
I currently use a TDMA phone w/ Cingular, but I want to get the Motorola V400. I know I'll have to switch plans, but if I buy the phone at Best Buy, can I have them switch my plan and activate it? Or do I have to go to a Cingular store and sign a contract for them to activate it? I really don't want to sign another contract.

either way you'll need to renew your contract to get the discounted price on the phone

1) Policies of Cingular will stay the same whether you are at Best Buy or at a Cingular store.
2) You can pay the "no commitment" price for the phone (currently $299.99 at my store). You can ask to keep your rate plan the same. (It may be incompatible with GSM service, but most are not.)

Thanks for the replies guys. It looks like I'll have to renew my contract to get the phone. Cingular's site has it listed with a 2 yr contract. Is there anyway to get it with just the 1 yr contract for the same price ($150 at Best Buy or $200 at Cingular)?

At Cingular stores in my area, the 1-year contract price is %50 more than the 2-year contract price. (You still get that nifty rebate, though!)

Well I just checked w/ Best Buy. I can get it for $150 w/ only a 1 year contract. After the $100 rebate, I'll have only spent $50 for the phone.
