I'm a happy camper now. I bought the Sony Ericsson T237 Go-Phone! It shipped from TN and im in Cali VERY Fast shipping if you ask me and i got it for free. It is expected to arrive tomorrow the 18th by 4:30 PST. Which is pretty cool. Does anyone know when the activation center closes? Because when i get my phone i need to call in to activate it? And you never know the truck may be a bit late! đŸ˜ŗ

customer service closes at 9pm eastern standard time. if you call after 9pm you'll be re-routed to sales.

and i can't activate your phone. so just call before 9 and you'll be all set. good luck!

I thought Go Phones didn't require a contract. He still has to wait 21 months before getting another phone? What if he cancels that number and signs up for another one?

some also have rebates.. I should rephrase that, huh.. There are also three models offered in store that have their own prices which may vary by market byt they are the nokia 6010 LG C1300i and the Motorola v220... Is that a better answer 🙂

Cool, I hope you enjoy your phone. I wouldn't worry about the naysaying if your friend gave it the greenlight.

I am, however, curious if you actually have to activate your phone.

I wonder this because, I recently ordered a phone as well, and was told I would need to activate it. This was not the case unfortunately. The phone came allready activated, which was contrary to what I agreed to and was told, but that's a whole nother story.

My phone was also delivered from Memphis, TN.

So how did it turn out?

Did you have to activate the phone yourself or did it come pre-activated?

This was exactly how mine was received.

I had figured they had just placed it in the phone for me, but did not understand why if they were doing that, they did not insert the memory card and battery as well.

When I called customer support I was told my phone had been activated at the factory.

How is it some chips are installed and activated, while others aren't?

Odd.

I dunno, that is odd. My battery was not in or anything either. Just my un-activated 64K Smart Chip. Which i thought was just plain odd.

I don't know. I got the Nokia 6230 on March 8, 2005 and it came with the battery already installed and the sim card in the slot. I didn't even get the little credit card sized holder for the sim.

Wow, yet another variation.

Do you happen to remember where your package was shipped from?

Three different ways of shipping phones from the same plant can not be normal operating procedure can it?

Any idea why some would be activated while others are not?

Three phones sent from the same factory:

1. Installed sim, nothing else installed, not activated, sim credit card included.

2. Installed Sim, nothing else intalled, activated, sim credit card included.

3. Installed Sim, installed battery, activaed, sim credit card not included.

all new monthly svc USUALLY comes in scenario 1 then u have to call in to accept the T&C's to activate. however the ACCOUNT is activated when the order is originally placed.

sometimes if u are porting a #, due to system issues they have to force activate which would be scenario 2.

if you are doing prepaid scenario 1 is still the norm but nothing is activated (ACCOUNT OR MOBILE).

not sure about scenario 3 where the battery is installed. if i rec'd one with the battery already installed i would return/exchange because your battery may not be the best quality. or u may have a refurb phone...
