AT&T #1 again

According to Q4 reports, AT&T now has 95.5 million customers and Verizon at close 2nd with 94 million customers. I'm sure we all know this may change once the iPhone settles in. It'll be an interesting battle between the two. This should prove that AT&T's "problems" aren't as bad as the over-hyped media is. No carrier is perfect everywhere, including Verizon.

For the next 2-3 months until verizon takes what i think will be around 8-15% of atnt's customers! Then verizon will be back in first and there is no way around it.

8-15%? The highest estimate from anyone was 10 million (10.5%) - and that was laughed off by almost every other news site/cell phone blog out there. Most every other site had it in the 2-3 million range (2.1% - 3.2%), with 5 million (5%) at max. I think the 8-15% you are speaking about were talking about 8-15% of ATT's iPhone customers - not overall customer base.

I found this logo by google searching apple and AT&T logos. It randomly brought it up. The original picture is sized for iPhone wallpaper. I cropped it to use for my gravitar. The original pic makes a great iPhone wallpaper.

If you add the things AT&T adds to their numbers, Verizon has around 103 Million users.

Verizon added 872,000 cell phone customers, people you can call. This means they have 94 million people you can call for free. Verizon doesn't count Connected Devices to this 94 Million. Verizon also added 86,000 iPad/Galaxy Tabs customers which are part of the Connected Devices. If you add them together, you get 102.2 total customers.

AT&T added around 400,000 cell phone customers, the ones you can call. The rest were Connected Devices which AT&T adds to their total customer amount. This is where the 95 million come from.

So, Verizon is still way ahead of AT&T.

Also, Postpaid Churn was lower on Verizon at 1.01% vs AT&Ts 1.15%.

I like the AT&T numbers better. It is always humorous to watch Big Red get defensive.

By his long history of participation in the AT&T forum.

I can't disagree that VZW has a better network for making phone calls. Loved the coverage and reliability, but the GOTCHA! business practices became so tiresome that opting for an inferior network should give VZW corporate executives a reason to rethink how they treat their customers.

It should speak volumes that when a VZW customer seeks refuge with AT&T, a company long famous for being difficult with its cusstomers, that should pretty much give pause to anyone who thinks VZW is the cat's pajamas.

Thank you very much for writing this and using common sense. the media has over hyped att service to th point people think that att is suppose to be the most professional problem solving company ever. there is a limit to what we can do and what we are allowed to do speaking as an att rep. all companies have issue and the are generally the same issue since all carrier structure for wireless service are almost the same the only real difference is the device line-up.

Clearly- 70,000 employees with that attitude can't be wrong.

Believing that exclusivity in device offerings is the only way to differentiate your company is going to end very, very badly.

Relying exclusively on someone else to make a decent product so that your company can succeed is a dangerous way to expect paychecks to keep rolling in year over year.

why would that end badly. coverage varies from place to place no matter the carrier so coverage can play a roll aswell. but its mostly the device line up people get att for an iphone because we have the best network for an iphone to be on. you think you know but you have no idea how carriers work aparently. we get customers by selling them good nice phones with a 2 year contract. if we have bad phones who want want it for 2 years , even if the impossible happens and every carrier has perfect coverage people are going to go with who has the best phones.

No wonder AT&T got rated worst carrier by Consumer Reports! While device line up is cool, it is definately way behind Price and coverage. If device line up was the end-all-be-all, why is Cricket still in business? And really, AT&T runs second at best in ANY catagory except most dropped calls. Phone selection? Really? iPhone is all AT&T has that brings in new customers. They have some phones that AT&T customers upgrade to, but nothing that brings in new customers. And now, their one draw is with another carrier that already has better coverage, better phones, and the same prices. I hope you are not banking on the "best phones" theory, cause Sprint and Verizon have ALL of the best rated phones. EVO, Epic, Droid X, Droid 2, and your beloved iPh...

Sorry bro. Your stats are messed up. Verizon has more customers than any wireless carrier and who cares about speed if you cant connect. I prefer reliability over speed. And both Sprint and Verizon have beat AT&T to true 4G so speed isn't an issue.

yes if ur in the limited area of coverage and u happen to have a 4g verizon phone which there are none at the moment u may have faster speed. but on 3g there is no beating att. plus i have verizon because it is all based on were u live no att coverage outta towns in indiana. and the fact u mention sprint makes me laugh go anywere outta town and try to make a call i dare you. or how about this don't make a claim like verzion has more customer until u look at the numbers, check ur math and get back with me.

Math is not needed, go to each companies website and you will see. at@t has a total of 95 million including connected devices. Verizon Wireless has 101 million including connected devices.
