That's not exatcly true. Cingular's GSM network has grown considerably in the year alone. No other company has but up that much growth in such a short period of time. At the rate Cingular is growing and with the buyout of AT&T, their network will be larger that Verizon's be 2006. Their not that far behind now. If you could see Cingular's digital coverage over Verizon digital coverage, you would understand.
We must be looking at two different coverage maps, because Cingular's existing GSM coverage map that is on their website has MANY dead spots - much more than VZW. I have a phone with both companies. My Cingular plan is still on the TDMA network specifically because if I switched to GS...

Also, the coverage map that is shown as "Cingular's Network" is just that. That doesnt mean there are other networks in place with smaller, regional companies. With the Nation plan, as long as you are getting a signal, the phone will work at no extra charge since there is no roaming.
we'll see whose network is bigger come a year from now.
So all of you who want a company that will work in most places you would probably travel, You may want to choose Verizon.
i think most of us don't want to be a part of the nations largest analog service, so we won't be going to vzw anytime soon, if ever.
That it works good in the specific city/area YOU live in, which also just goes to show that when it all comes down to it, most people care about it working near where they live not out in B-F-E.
It cracks me up that in order to back up how great the coverage is "everywhere" you see the "mine works in my house but my friends doesn't" defense. BFD, there have been some times were I experienced the opposite. I guess by your logic that must mean Verizon coverage must suck.

Have you actually experience Verizon service. I have the feeling that some of you are making accusation and havent even used a verizon phone.
I was a Verizon customer. 🤠(Hey, I was young and foolish...)
Service in my area was okay, and I found myself resenting each call to customer service.
Then I discovered Roaming Charges. 😲
Once I'd paid my way out of that, I decided to try for a phone company that would be easier to deal with. That orange 'splat' guy looked fun, plans were okay, and I could get a nifty StarTac phone.
Service is the same or better (dead spots are in slightly different locations), and the people are easy to deal with. Now I sell them.
See? Happily...

VZW's network is only about 5% analog and decreasing all the time. So what are you talking about?? The past two years VZW has spent 4 billion dollars each year on network upgrades alone. This year the spending is going to be at least 5 billion on the network alone. Because VZW is the best and is committed to staying that best.
