Free Incoming Texts?!?

Shayby

Apr 22, 2005, 11:32 AM
I just had a customer call me and tell me there is a new ad out with free incoming texts. Is this true? A co-worker said her sister just got it, but I never thought Cing would do it.

I think it's in reference to Verizon's In-Messaging promotion... closest thing I can think of.

🙂 True... that verizon's new desperate ploy to regain some of the massive ammounts of customers they are behind... no way cingular is going to follow suit. cingular also put a stop to the idea of making push-to-talk phones that they were considering making to compete with t-mobile.

🙄 I think it's a typo. Or scam or error, anything but free incoming text. CINGULAR doesn't give anything away, and if they do ther is a catch.

Cingular doesn't have to give anything away. They already have the best plans, phone flexibility, and many other features.

VErizon is attracting the Teens and 20 somethings who actually use text messaging like water.

But Verizon is Daddys cell phone company and that age group likes bells and whistles, choices, and features. Verizon is not the place for exciting phones.....only service wher the buffalo roam.

VErizon needs to give away Buicks as a promo.

Incoming text messages aren't free with Cingular? Oh man, I'm a blue customer and I was planning to migrate when a phone I want comes out. I get free incoming text messages on all of my current lines. I wonder how long I'll be able to remain a blue customer. I just don't see any reason to switch! I can still buy new phones as a business customer on the blue side. Guess I'll just stay put!

Best plans is questionable as far as the Family Talk plans. I agree that we are the bomb on individual rateplans but the FT and Data plans raise questions for me.

I agree they really aren't competitive with the other carriers but I guess they are throwing in the fact that we are the only company that offers rollover. Which a lot of customers really don't care about. But most of the other carriers are offering more minutes for less money.

Alot of customers don't care about rollover because alot of them don't pay attention. Rollover saves alot of customers ALOT of money sometimes, and more than half the time they don't even know it. They figure it out when the bill is suddenly 3 times higher than normal. Rollover is great! It helps more than you or customers think.

I understand the arguement but from the customers point of view they believe more minutes say 1000 anytime and unlmtd N&W is a better bargain than a rollover plan. Like you said rollover can save the customer a lot of money but unfortunately they don't see it that way.

Roll Over is best for people like me who don't live on their mobile phones. I barely use 300 primetime minutes most months and have a huge roll over bank. I never worry about counting minutes anymore and feel for $39 as if I have unlimited primetime use now with over 1000 RO minutes plus the 450 I get each month.....A lower plan won't help me. Im in the "sweet spot" at 450 minutes.

The only problem I can see from Cingular's standpoint is there is no incentive for people like me to sign a LT contract and get off month to month service.

Me??? No. I was simply confused at the fact that Cingular would do that. I was under the impression from someone pretty high up in the company who is in charge of stuff like this that there would be nothing like this happening.
