Samsung Captivate

This phone reminds me of a Corvette. Car enthusiasts can relate here. The Captivate has a powerful processor, 400x800 resolution screen, 720p video recorder, basically the phone can go head to head with the best phones out there and hold it's own. It just looks so cheap though. Whether this is something that needs to be blamed on Samsung, or AT&T is besides the point. If I'm going to pay $200 for a phone I want it to look like a phone worthy of paying $200 for.
To go full circle here, the Corvette is a great car that competes against the best sports cars in the world. The biggest complaint against the Corvette is that it has a cheap plastic look. So does the Captivate.

I would have to agree with the design, however I would have to put the blame on samsung judging by the phones of the past, samsung has always had great feature rich phone but looked and feels cheap. With that said, after playing with one for the past few hours I would almost prefer it over my Iphone. The Captivate is light weight, and the touch screen is smooth with almost no delay, typing on the keyboard feels similar to my Iphone which I love. The 720P video recording is awesome, and the pictures is takes is similar to that of the Iphone4, Aria, and other 5mp camera phones. Screen size is nice, which also makes typing on it very easy. on a scale of 1-10 its an easy 8 arguably 9.5

That's good to know. I plan on getting a new phone towards the end of August and it will most likely be the iphone 4 or the captivate. The only thing that concerns me is it seems that att is finally allowing high end android phones (which a lot of people said they would never do so that the iphone wouldn't have real competition) and I don't want to get one then have a bigger better one come out right after. If somebody went with the backflip because it was att's first android phone, they would probably be disappointed when the Aria came out. If somebody got the Aria because it was att's first true android phone, they would probably be sad they didn't wait for the captivate. Looking at the features of the captivate I kinda doubt that a hi...

Waiting for the "Latest and Greatest" thing in any form of electronics is wasted time. There is always going to be a "newer and better" phone out on the market. If you keep waiting for the latest and greatest, you will never make a phone call. I am an amateur photographer and there is a new camera out almost every week. If I kept waiting for newest, I would never get a picture taken, and not be able to enjoy taking pictures. It's the same with phones. Next year, there will be something that will blow the Captivate out of the water. Just go ahead and get what you want and enjoy it.

I agree with you there. Not to mention this phone has pretty much everything I would want in a phone. I would prefer the phone look a little less cheap and plastic, but assuming it has a good touch screen and a decent spearker(s) I'll probably be satisfied with the phone should I get it.

Then don't buy an Android of any kind. There will always be something bigger or better released less then 4 months after you make your purchase.

You have iPhone mentality. You're too concerned about someone else having something better then you. If you can't learn to be content having something great that does what you expected it to do when you bought it, you're never going to be happy with an Android.

They're not going to stop innovating just to help your self-esteem. Sorry.

hmm, cell student? are you sure that shouldn't say Psych student? Who says anything about self esteem? I could care less about what everybody else has. This phone doesn't have everything I want in a phone, and am hesitant to purchase it as I'm sure eventually a phone will come out that does have everything I want.
Feel free to show off your self awarded psych degree and inform me of more of my problems.
