the truth about at&t's new data plans

This is my take on the new data plans that at&t is offering. Coming from someone who has been working in the indusrty for almost a decade, and what I would consider a heavy data user.

Its been proven that 98% of at&t smartphone users use less then 2GB of data a month. 63% of that use less then 200mb. I am trying to put these facts to the test, I reset my data tracker on my iphone three weeks ago, I have been streaming pandora for atleast 2 hours a day, I am always updating my facebook status atleast three times a day, plus uploading mobile photos. I watched about 1 hour og youtube clips. Downloaded 15 songs, 4 apps. I have sent 10.6mb, and recieved 165mb.

Since I have been paying closer attention to my data usage I am utilizing my home...

It really doesn't matter how much data people use on their phones. People like words like "Free" or "Unlimited". As the wireless world is becoming more competitive- adding features & dropping prices- RESTRICTING a feature is a bad proposition.

I totally agree, people love the words free, and unlimited. Coming from a sales backround I couldnt tell you how many people would love to have a blackberry, android, windows, Iphone, phone, but only need it for texting and facebook/myspace but dont want to pay $30 of unlimited data when all they will use is 100mb or so. Now those customers can buy a high end device, and pay half what they would of paid if they got it a month ago.

if these were the plans we had in place the whole time, and got rid of them by changing it unlimited only, customers would have a fit. They would be saying "I barely use 200mb why am I going to pay $15 more per month when im still using less then 200mb"

Its in no way resticting customer on what they can do on...
