I tried navagating through the at&t wireless website and cannot find any information.
I am looking for a unlimited text and data plan with no minutes. I use my device for internet and texting, and don't wish to pay 40.00/month for minutes I'll never use.

This would be for a smartphone.

They do offer plans like that. They are called TAP plans. Unfortunately they are only available to the hearing impaired and you have to have a form filled out by a doctor to qualify for it.

from your own link:

Important:

Incomplete quote. The full document citation is "Smartphones are not eligible for the Standard Unlimited plan."

The Standard unlimited plan is 40.00/month for Unlimited internet, email, and messaging. This is for standard handsets.

Smartphones and BlackBerry's must go on the Blackberry/Smartphone Unlimited $55.00/month unlimited internet, email, and messaging.

So YES, AT&T does offer TAP plans for certified hearing impaired users.

Would be T-Mobile Sidekick prepaid plan...

$1/day unlimited internet, email, text + 15c/minute.

Or Boost $50/unlimited everything...

Major carriers all start with $40/month for minutes (Some have lesser $30/month minute plans, with varying limitations)

Options vary, of course, by what carriers have towers in your area.

Aren't an option for 99.9% of the population...

Not trying to ignore them, but if he was in that situation we most likely wouldn't be having this conversation.

For normal folk, my suggestions stand unless he can get a doctors note.

for smartphones we do offer unlimted text and data with no voice plan. If you decide to make a call from the phone it would be at .45/min but you can just get unlimted web and data for $50.
