Cingular Customer Service

I have been using Verizon Wireless service since August of 2003. I have to say I have been disappointed by it. Horrible call quality and the internet sucks. Not to mention that whole Get It Now thing. What is that about? Anyway I decided after walking through a bestbut store and seeing the new phones available I would give it a try and maybe even cancel Verizon and pay the ETF. BOY WAS I WRONG. Don't get me wrong the service was great the call quality was excellent and being a former employee of AT&T Wireless and avid user of their GSM service (but had to move to South Carolina where AT&T isn't covered) I was so comfortabe with the service. I felt whole again. UNITL I called customer service. I had to pay a $250 deposit to start th...

1) I would suspect that having three lines with Verizon uses some of your available credit, making you a poorer risk for a 4th, Cingular line.

2) Deposits are normally held for 1 year; longer if there are service interruptions for non-payment. Cash is not acceptable for deposits, (at least in the Northeast) as it leaves no paper trail.

3) A deposit should be returned as part of the normal account-cancellation process. If an ETF is applicable, it would be deducted from the deposit. (Canceling within 15 days means no ETF.) Outstanding balances would probably also be deducted.

4) Customer Care is a department with a large turnover rate. It was also recently centralized, creating new locations without a lot of the old personnel. ...

Seeing as I work for Cingular Wireless Customer Service, let me apologize for your bad experience. As Myth said, such an experience is not in line with our commitment for customer service.

I can't speak for all CSR's in my location but I try to give the best service I can each and every call I take. So don't let one bad experince set your opinion of Cingular.

I agree that Cingular has poor customer service. I have had service with the company since it began. In the good old days their customer service and knowledge was good. However, just like the change from Ohio Bell to Ameritech to SBC, when Ameritech sold its rights/name for cellular service, it seems as if they opened the doors and let anyone come in and take calls. I am not exaggerating when I say that EVERY time I contact customer service I want to scream. The reps know nothing, are extremely non-professional, terible grammar, and overall have non-friendly, non-customer oriented focus. Overall unpleasant to talk to. I currently opened a Verizon account (still utilizing the Cingular as well) and have noticed EXTREME differences in customer...

I work for cingular customer service. I have got to agree that we need to improve soem reps are better than others at cingular. I have friends that work for Verizon and they give their reps more support than cingular but that is changing. We recently had a meeting where reps voiced their dissatisfaction with management closed door with the directors and changes were made. i am very customer focused and infomred. I know there are a lot of reps with cingular that are the same way. But there are some bad apples in every bunch.

Well I am with AT&T wireless now and I can say that the customer service is way better than Cingular. I heard that Cingular is made up of 80% temps employees. So in my book they are like Verizon and pay their people nothing so the reps they do have dont want to work. Now I can't say that for all of them. But if your not making much your not gonna "care" much. AT&T Wireless reps will be sent to the unemployment line and they will keep all of the Cingular reps Im sure. Verizons people went on strike before due to a lack of pay. So they may have the biggest customer base but they are far behind when it comes to treating their employees the way they should. Cingular is the same way. sucks bad I think its all getting out of hand and that the wire...

I work in cingular customer service which has been inproving over the last 6 months. I acknowledge that some of cingular repa are bad but I have been an AT&T customer and got romaing charges on their GSM network for picking up cingular. I was in my home area I was told that the romaing charges would stand and I had to pay them and not use my phone wen it was in cingular which was half the time. Cingular customer service might have problems but all of the carriers have problems none are perfect.

Verizon employees under paid??????????

What do you base this information on?? I have seen the contract that you guys (Cingular signed) and can honestly tell you that the VZW benefits for non-union employees are as good if not better than in every possible way. There are only something like 52 employees in VZW who have decided to unionize and that happened many, many years ago. It was also a huge mistake as they are restricted to what their contract says that they get and the rest of us are allowed to take full advantage of everything that the company offers. Believe me when I tell you that we are much better off than the union people.

Unions in the US are bogus and un-need in this day and age. Why would I want to pay a union to ...

Wow - I guess it pays to do some research before choosing a carrier. I have been using Sprint and the reception is terrible where I am (in the middle of a big city, not in the boonies). Friends tell me that Cingular coverage is good and so I was planning to switch my family plan from Sprint to Cingular. I'm going to re-think this now.

Thanks all for the comments

I hope that you are looking at coverage maps and not making your decisions based on opinions from people on a message board (and I am not trying to make a smart comment). Remember: opinions are like noses - everybody has one 😁

Yes, you should not do research on a message board because people are giving you opinions about there experience with a service in there area. I suggest you should take family and friend advise. Because there probably in your area. Still, even opinions from people in your area may not be as accurate as the best service for you. I would strongly advise you to get a free trail or test of that company. If I would give you my opinion I would say don't go with cingular, go with Verizon. There coverage is totally better. But thats my opinion. And my opinion really doesn't matters. I might live 2,000 miles or more away from you. But if Cingular don't work out you should give Verizon Wireless a try!! They do have the biggest network in the US.

Truthfully, I do not understand why anyone would call into any cellular carrier call center when they could contact the local retail stores or authorized agents. As an authorized agent for Cingular, we suggest to all our customers that they contact us first, and if for some reason that we do not answer, to call one of our other local locations. Sales reps on the front line off all companies need to be taking charge of "their" customers and building a solid bond with their customers, to the point that they "own" those customers and the customer should only have to contact them for anything. I agree that EVERY company call center operation has major issues. And when calling in, you could receive someone totally plesant as can be, or someone th...
