Google Nexus One AT&T Edition Appears
The Google Nexus One AT&T Edition has appeared in FCC's database, while Motorola promises a new phone for Google's Web store soon.
The Google Nexus One is currently only available with T-Mobile 3G support, but a new version supporting AT&T's 3G network has now been spotted in FCC's database. According to Engadget, the AT&T version will also work with Canadian carriers Rogers, Bell and Telus, as well as European carriers.
Furthermore, Motorola recently said that they're planning to offer an Android smartphone made specifically for Google's new Web store too. It's not yet known which carrier networks this phone will work on, but Google said at the Web store introduction to stay tuned for Verizon Wireless support as well.

Ya im how much of the phone would work on ATT as well..id sure love to get an android phone already. But i can tell you the reason why you cant use mms or sms on unlocked phones with ATT. The reason is really simple cuz ive dealt with a few. but when they come branded with ATT they have the gateway numbers programmed in so you can mms/sms...on unlocked phones they dont have a specific gateway number programmed for a carrier since its unlocked. You can still program the numbers yourself but you need to know the right gateway numbers

Well, we can only hope ATT will endorse the Nexus One. And I think if they subsidies it they'll sell more.

When I first got my N95-3, it detected network settings from the cell tower. Everything works on my phone.
I'm actually posting from my N95-3 right now.

I've been using an umlocked/
unbranded Nokia N95-3 for over 2yrs and internet & mms works just fine. Unlocked Nokias are easy though, when you first get it and turn it on, it goes through the steps and detects network settings from the cell tower. I don't know how other unlocked/unbranded handsets are though.

I think its only nokia that does that(which is why i love my E71x though its branded so i dont have to dectect settings) cuz ive handled some other unbranded-unlocked phones for a few customers and they were screwed on mms, and internet browsing...

Damn that sucks! So when it comes to unlocked/unbranded it seems as though Nokia is the only way to go.
Well that was nice of you to help that person even though it wasn't an ATT handset.
