Ipad yay, or nay

I have mixed emotions about the Ipad. I think its a great idea, however being a RSC for at&t I don't see anything in it for me. No contract so I don't get paid on the new activation, as usual I don't get any money for selling the actual product, but thats how it is for all phones. Its only has a $30 MRC, so that means my MRC will **** the bed if I sell alot of them, not to mention my FPO will go into the crapper also cause you cant really attach any feats to it. I just hope apple has some cool accessories to sell with so I can make some money on this thing. If not then I will still push netbooks over the Ipad cause I get paid better on it.

I hope you sales people are able to make some money on it.

I for one am in interested in purchasing one.

I work in the IT field and if I can run the same apps on the iPad that I can on my iPhone, things like making a VPN connection, using a remote desktop session to look at something or remote into a workstation etc, I like the concept of not having to pack a notebook for a long weekend get a way.

Being able to swipe a finger to unlock the device, run an app to do what I need to do is a nice concept.

I am no apple fan boy or anything, but the things I mentioned above I can do on my iPhone very easily, I had a very hard time doing them when I had a Blackberry or Win Mobile phone.

I have no doubt that the Ipad will offer some cool features. From a customer stand point I think its great. Its just,at&t has always told us to ask our selfs whats in it for me. I dont think there is anything it for me which sucks.

Besides, is there any word that the Ipad is going to be sold in ATT stores?

SJ said activation would be available ONLY on the iPad itself. So even if stores carry them it should be sold like an accessory. Rung up and sent away.

Yeah, that's what I thought. To me, it seems more like a companion device, not a replacement. Something I can imagine reading the newspaper on, or reading an ebook or emag on.

Did you see that neat shelf that Apple designed in the Ipad OS for ebooks. I though that was kind of a neat idea.

Even though the Kindle has been really hot the past 2yrs, I can really imagine the Ipad doing to newspapers & magazines, what the Ipod did to CDs.

They stole the shelf idea. Aldiko ebook reader for the Android uses a VERY similar UI, and the new "gallery" that they offer is a direct rip off of Android 2.1

the ipad doesn't have multi tasking. If this was a macbook touch (OSx) I would be really excited. but as this is little more than an ipod XL.. I find it a HUGE letdown.

Yep, that's essentially what it is, an Itouch XL.

I'm DEFINITELY not an Apple fanboi... but I was kinda excited to see what Apple had, and I also was completly letdown.

I can't believe it's not OSX + iPod VM (or similar). All of the extra software thats unavailable is staggering. The extra functionality.

The thought that I'd have to jailbreak yet another device just to get decent functionality makes me sad and have a loss of any desire to get one.

there is a BIG difference between unlocking and jailbreaking. unlocking means you can use it on any carrier. Jailbreaking allows you to modify the root code of the device to make it do things Steve Jobs wouldn't approve of (Like multi-tasking)

I watched that video, I like the first 3, and a space shooting game looked cool also.

Are a lot of these games free?

I'd say nay.

I won't be selling the things in my store personally, but i know i'd look down on it if I did.

Standard replies about flash, customizablity, camera, etc apply for me personally.

Proffessionally the selling points just aren't there. The only thing that's remotely sellable is $30 a month (vs $60) and like you said - not a good deal for us.

Apple is a company that's got a shiney turd for sale, imho.

I could care less about customizability, or camera. I couldnt imagine trying to take a pic or record a video with that thing. I am actually glad it dosent have flash cause if it did it would take the battery from 10 hours down to 2 hours cause flash is such a pig. never the less, its a glorified Ipod touch, but the monthly pricing is a no brainer compared to that of regular netbooks, I just wish there was more in it for me as the person selling this.

iPad seems to be a larger version of iPhone with much better features. And at the moment, it is very expensive.

I will only use an iPad if I get it as a gift. 🙂

Moreover, I am more than happy with my iPhone and do not see any thing extra that an iPad can do for me.

Hence, I am waiting impatiently for the new iPhone to be released.
