Exception Upgarde:
If you have been in your current contract for 6 months, AT&T or an authrized retailer should be able to do one for you, keep in mind the phones are usually a little more than the regular upgrage price.

Exception upgrade will get you another phone with rebates and a two year contract. You will be charged more than if you were eligible for a standard upgrade but less then purchasing a phone outright. Most places will charge you 50 to 75 dollars more than a standard upgrade.

ESPECIALLY if you just got the phone four months ago. Carriers make their money by NOT subsidizing equipment purchases any more frequently then they have to in order to satisfy their customers.

The longer you wait between upgrades, the better price you can expect to negotiate.

If you don't care what it costs you can do just about anything you want!

Most stores require at least 6 months into the contract in order to do an exception upgrade. My store requires 12 months. Depending on the type of phone you want, you could either pay full retail, or add a line to your existing service and get the phone at the discounted price with a rebate. Usually comes out to about the same cost, it just depends if you want to pay in full up front.
