Subject: Operation Chokehold
On Friday, December 18, at noon Pacific time, we will attempt to overwhelm the AT&T data network and bring it to its knees. The goal is to have every iPhone user (or as many as we can) turn on a data intensive app and run that app for one solid hour. Send the message to AT&T that we are sick of their substandard network and sick of their abusive comments. THe idea is we’ll create a digital flash mob. We’re calling it in Operation Chokehold. Join us and speak truth to power!

Remember to turn OFF your Wi-Fi during that hour. There would be NO point if a bunch of people are browsing YouTube in their office

i remember when iPhone users tried to "bring down" the network when MMS was launched back in September, too. the network handled all the MMS messages with no issues.

Pretty sure nothing will happen. If it does I am also sure the FBI will be knocking at the OP's door for terrorist activity. 😁

Gee - how long has Apple made phones?
What is their experience in RF?

How long has RIM, LG, Samsung and other been in the game?

So if the network is so bad, why are 95% of complaints from iphone users?

Maybe its Apple. Im just sayin

Seriously...I never remember all these complaints pre-iphone. I don't remember the last time I dropped a call on my BB or even my Tilt 2...

I would wait if I were you. I've had a lot of problems with mine. I'm probably going to trade it in for a BB 9700 this week.

I have a beater Nokia 2610 that I use when I'm working out in wet weather and it doesn't drop calls on 2G, and it works in areas I get No Service with the iPhone.

My belief is that there are some compromises that have to be made when you shove that volume of electronics into such a small space. It is what it is.

However, AT&T does seem to have its share of deep nulls in the coverage. Building penetration is pathetic.

When I set about looking for independent data, however, to confirm the superior performance of Verizon’s network, I was astonished to discover that I had managed to get things exactly wrong. Despite the well-publicized problems in New York and San Francisco, AT&T seems to have the superior network nationwide.

And the iPhone itself may not be so great after all. Its design is contributing to performance problems.

I would love to help out with "Chokehold" but usually at noon I'm in a area with no AT&T coverage. Probably the reason I don't own a iphone. Imagine AT&T if you will, how many iphones you would sell if you actually had a good network!

For being such a "terrible" network, I drop no calls. Ever. Oh, and my internet is the fastest out there. God at&t sucks.

Funny, I watched mobile video on my bold 9700 for that whole hour with no buffering issues what so ever. Eat it DB Fanboys.
