Increasing quality of coverage within my home

I just switched from Verizon to Cingular (my company made that decision for me). I got the Blackberry 7100G and find it a great phone. Only problem, I get mediocar coverage inside my house. I do get coverage, but it varies from room to room. I travel about 15 days a month on business and find that the coverage offered by Cingular is about the same as Verizon (at least in the places that I travel to). Now here is my question....Is there any external antenna that really would work inside my house. It would have to be passive as there is no external connection for my phone. I have seen passive repeaters on the web, but do they really work????

Thanks for your opinions.

ive never tried or heard of any results from repeaters, so i couldn't tell you, but it seems that they should help, since they ususally are powered to about 3 watts.

i would try to find a place with a good return policy if it doesnt help. 😉

they put them in COR stores all the time as a scam to boost reception to make people think they will always have stellar reception, its a scam brought about by the man to keep a brutha down 😛 while within the store, that would explain why right when i walk into the store i have full reception and when i walk out of the store i am instantly down to 3

Yeah we've got a repeater in our store too...works great for identifying RF problems in phones. If there's anything less than a full signal on your phone for more than a few seconds when you're in here then something's wrong. And all calls go thru nicely while you're inside. How well this would work in a residence I don't know.

Where would a person purchase a repeater, and for how much can you estimate they would cost? Thanks.

Any indirect antenna is definitley gonna be less quality than a direct, and don't waste your time with a non-powered clip on antenna. If you want to look at a powered one here's a link http://smoothtalker.com/ not cheap but very functional
