Anyone hate working for AT&T as much as I do?

I don't know if it's just me or this company is going downhill fast. I used to really enjoy working for AT&T, but it seems as though anymore all they do is cut our commissions and raise our goals to unrealistic amounts.

They talk about winning "best in class", while their customer care hangs up on customers and store employees don't seem to care either because the company doesn't care about them.
Work has become more of a burden over the last year than it has ever been, it's not that I am burned out of sales I still really love my job it's just that I hate working for a company that treats it's employees like they don't matter.

Another thing that gets me is the rate plans, they are not at all competitive. I guess they think that sin...

I empathize your situation. I call Customer care a lot, but I've never had a bad rep. Are you considering working for another wireless company?

I must say, AT&T is unionized, whereas Verizon is a union-buster, so I don't know if you want to switch companies or not. I will say, the people who work for Verizon love it and would not work for anyone else.

T-Mobile is also decent from what I hear.

I don't know I have a couple other offers with other companies. I do like the fact that they are a union company, but it seems like the union is more for the company than for the employee these days. It just doesn't seem like much of a reason to stay with a company like this.

I have some relatives that work for verizon and they love it, they are with the landline though so it could be different, but as far as customer care they are always great. My brother had his phone for about six or seven months and hated it so verizon told him that they would let him upgrade and get a new phone. That kind of customer service is unheard of with AT&T. I know that you can't do that kind of thing all the time, but just because they showed good customer...

I wish mobility reps were paid the same as landline reps. They want us to be one company but it seems like our "unions" dont want it to be one company. Dont get me wrong im proud what unions have brought work places but come on we all have to work together a bit. I wish our union reps were the same as the landline union reps. They seem to always get the better deal.

That kind of service is unheard of with at&t? Maybe in the stores it is, but not with customer care. I switched my service from verizon to at&t (not even the ERP line, I have and pay for a consumer line) because the policies at&t have are very customer oriented. Does that mean you're always going to get good customer service? No. But that's the way it is with all wireless carriers. As far as working for at&t it's not my dream job no, but they have great benefits, and a great work environment.

It seems like all of our customers are angry all the time because AT&T is always finding new ways to charge them something extra like for discounts, raising restock fees, ect.

As far as upgrading early I have called on several different occassions for customers in hopes of getting a new phone a 2yr pricing, the best I have ever got was 2yr plus $75, you might as well pay retail price.

I just find it hard to come to work for a company that is always coming up with new ways to screw their customers. I guess more than anything that's what creates the bad enviroment.

Have you ever thought of working indirect? We've had several people who have come from COR because of being micro managed and having unrealistic sales goals. Benefits might be different but atleast you would probably have more freedoms.

As far as the upgrading early thing we get people complaining all the time about EVERY carrier and their upgrade policies. From what I've seen, at&t's upgrade policies are just as good as every other companies(except upgrade fees. But if you really want to get around those you usually can)

Verizon has the best. Most people have the 100.00 off any phone for the main line and 50.00 off any phone for all secondary lines. AT&T only gives it to the main line customer, not secondary.

I think the problem is that you're looking at this from the customers point of view. I find myself doing that often. What you have to keep in mind is that at&t is a business, and even though it doesn't seem like it would effect the company much to offer standard upgrades to people that aren't eligible, it does when more and more people get to do that. As far as the extra fees, I agree it seems a little petty. What I get most often is people that just bought their iphone, unfortunately lost/broke it, then want to buy another for 199/299. They have no idea how the whole upgrade process works. i wish everybody that owns a phone would have to take a small class on upgrades, how they work, and why you can't renew your contract whenever you feel l...

Thats what customer care is here for; if there are circumstances such as great revenue etc from the customer we could look at other options.. how long have they fulfilled their current contract etc to see what we can do and escalate it up in chain. (Except for the Iphone lol)

I see what you're saying. I mean, if somebody were to need a replacement phone, and they were only a couple months away from being eligible, then I would definitely go to my manager and try to talk him into giving a standard upgrade. But too often it's somebody that's a few months in, and of course wants an IPHONE!

LOL not much different than AT&T. Yeah Mr. Customer they say that we will be getting 3g in the next few months......Oh, well now they delayed it, but they keep telling us just a few more months.... The biggest lie of ALL is I know Mr. Customer that everybody else's rates are $30 cheaper and offer more minutes, I know that you can choose 5-10 people to talk to as much as you want, but we offer Rollover which is way better than saving money or free incoming calls...Plus we have the iPhone... 👀 ...ummm.

I think you are failing at selling your product. Part of being a good salesman is being able to overcome objections while being careful of not being too pushy.
If someone crashes your sale for mentioning My Faves or whatever other feature from another carrier, then you really must think that those are better features when you cannot come up with a good come back..

I would not look at leaving unless you have a good fall back plan. Being unemployed is not a good idea right now. In our area, the service is MUCH better than Verizon, Sprint, Tee Mo Bile, so we don't have to complain. The MyCircle and Rollover do about the same thing, just advertised differently. My whole issue is that ATT is focusing on the iPhone (which has done a great job of showing how a substandard phone can ruin a network) then phones that are better for the consumer and the company's image.

Rate plan wise, ATT needs to lower data and text rates. If they would, I could predict nice thing for them. I have told many a person that the its better to have fast nickles then slow dimes, but even with 9+ years with the largest and o...

So your telling me I can get a BB Bold @ Best Buy for only $50 and they don't shove a data/messenging plan down my throat? Hmm, intriguing. And Skyfire is working on a version of they're browser for BB. The Bold is a nice smartphone.

I've heard that you don't have to have it a Best Buy, but I called and asked and they told me that the price on certain PDAs required the data plans for at least 6 months. Not sure when this started, but I know that Radio Shack just started doing this as well.

For 6 months huh? And how exactly is it that Best Buy is going to get in the way of me calling 611 and minusing data? Best Buy need to mind they're own damn business when it comes to ppl's personal accts. Such things is up to nobody but the acct holder, that's what I say.

Guess what I already have a BB Curve on one of my other lines, all that line has is voice & unlmtd txt. And ATT knows about it too btw, cause when I click on that number on the internet the BB 8310.

I don't know why I'm the only person who sticks up for all these sorts of things on Phone Scoop. Perhaps cause most of you are employees in the industry and just cause you get a paycheck from the wireless companies appearently means you forgot what it means to be an actual consumer!

Not the point I was trying to make. What you seem to fail to realize, when you sign with alot of retailiers, other than COR, they place a you on a 6th month contract of some sort to protect their commission. Usually, its something ridiculously large in comparison to their loss of revenue.

If you bought a phone form Best Buy and they told you it require a data plan, you are going to pay Best Buy alot of money if you take off the plan in the first 6 months of service.

If Im reading this right, how exactly would I have to pay Best Buy more money cause I minused data from MY acct if I already left there store? Once I leave me and Best Buy would be done.

the rest of the story is that if you break the 6 month agreement with best buy they won't get paid by at&t on the back end, so they charge you.

Ready: So if you cancel within 6 months of buying a bold at best buy you signed a 2 yr agreement with at&t and paid 200 for the Bold, 4 months later you cancel with at&t and get a $175 early termination fee. Best buy does not get that $175 att does. So Best buy is about to eat the difference for the phone, they paid att 400 for that phone. Best buy(company as example most indirect supposedly do this) will usually charge the difference to re-coup the money. You get an additional $200 charge from Best Buy for screwing them out of the money att would have paid them.

I have yet to see anyone get ...

Probably the same way my indirect company does.

Our 6 month agreements states that if you break the contract in the first 6th months you have to bring the phone back to us. If you don't, you recieve a letter and in a few weeks if you haven't returned or paid for the device...the bill gets sent to a collection agency.

I bought my Bold at BB and I was not forced by them to add the data package. I bought it in March. I went home and I added the data package myself.
Now, why would you buy the Bold and not use the data/email that it offers is beyond me....
NOTE: My last bill statement had a paragraph on the very first page that says that if you have a smartphone without a data package AT&T has the right to add it on to your plan. Are they really doing this? I don't know, but it's right on your bill... Anyone else noticed this?
