no stay with Verizon and go with the omnia 2. That's my opinion. I have no facts to back it up. But the phone looks better than the iphone to me. You'll just have to wait for the omnia 2 to come out later this year. At least you aren't required to keep the data plan with Verizon.

That is not correct.

The data plan is required on all current PDA type devices.

Your talking about with Vrzn or ATT? Because with ATT its easy to call up 611 and lie and say you "lost" your smartphone and that your using a cheap Razr or something you got on ebay, minus the data plan. I really don't think ATT will go as far as to check a persons IMEI # to see if they are really using they're smartphone.

And you aren't smart enough to make two clicks to find the answer to your own question.

Don't ask stupid questions if you don't want a tough response.

Well guess what, since you aren't mature enough to answer my question I just called 611, and heres the answer I got, examples of smartphones, $10 internet on Iphone & Fuze: No, Nokia E71x $10 internet: yes. So people should buy the E71x, and not let themselves get ripped off by $20/mo.

ATT does consider the Nokia e71x a smartphone and requires the $30 data package on it - if you were told otherwise you were told incorrectly.

I was referring to calling 611 and telling them I have a non-smartphone, it could be any handset, it doesn't matter, lowering it from the rip-off $30 data plan to the $10 data plan that I have on my N95 that btw, runs the SAME smartphone OS as the E71x. But for example I would still be using the E71x, and I KNOW the $10 internet will work on the E71x because it runs the SAME OS as my N95.

Screw $30/mo for barely over 1mbps speed.

Oh and by the way, if it hurts your feelings, I also tether my Nokia N95 to my laptop WITHOUT paying ATT extra. I know you reps are brainwashed into thinking that smartphones & laptops use more data than regular phones, but internet is is internet is internet, and NOBODY has PROVEN webpages have more data tha...

Wow, do you think I actually care that you rip off ATT? Do think that it, as you put it, "hurts my feelings?" You sound like an angry teenager in their mothers basement, downloading pirated movies and music and finding every way possible to "screw the system" - Here's a clue - grow up, nobody here cares about your anger towards the "system" or ATT.

I"m not a rep, and have no stake in ATT whatsoever. All I'm doing is pointing out facts, unlike your useless rants.

Fact: I never once stated that any browser on one phone uses more data than the same browser on another device.

Fact: Most smartphones (as defined by ATT) use actual HTML web browsers.

Fact: Most non smartphones use limited media net browsers.

Fact: That is why ATT...

The person tex was replying to was talking about Verizon phones. Like the iphone, you can't get the data turned on on any new Verizon smartphone.

Rather than clarify, I guess he wanted to be difficult.

Yeah, unfortunatley a lot of people are like that on Phone Scoop. There really are very few that aren't fanboys, or accholes, and so on.

Your with Vrzn, Im with ATT, I don't bash you for being with Vrzn, personal choice, it doesn't hurt my feelings.

Ah, I live in Killen. 🙂
Next, You won't like AT&T in this area. The 3G is not even fast. Plus, you live almost in a dead zone for AT&T. In your house, you may pick up one bar but thats it. Verizon is more of a reliable network in AL because it works on almost all these country roads. Plus, you have 3G all over the state. I would get the iPod Touch.

Depends on ATT coverage in you're area. 3G coverage can make or brake the iPhone for some.

I guess the questions should be:

--How is the coverage difference between the two carriers for you in your area? If you know someone with the iphone in your area, see how coverage is with him. You have verizon, so you should have a good handle on their coverage.

--What features are you looking for in a phone? Are you going to use the internet browsing that the iphone provides? If so, make sure you have strong 3g coverage. if you're not, remember, that you'll still be paying $30 a month for that feature.

--Why are you dissatisfied with Verizon?

Do you use the keyboard on the ipod touch a lot?

I have a touch as well, and while I love it as a PDA, it would drive me up the wall with texting.

Beyond that, the two devices are similar.. network coverage is a big issue for that phone. Apple kinda dropped the ball when it comes to the antenna, so you'll want to make sure your area has excellent coverage in order to take full advantage of the iphone.

He won't like AT&T. AT&T has horrible coverage in AL. People around here need something that will work on the back roads (roads that are not even paved too) and Verizon works the best.

You want an iPhone, you get yourself an iPhone. Really, sometimes life is about little indulgences.

Before I made that leap, I went and bought a $25 Gophone and dialed 611 and kept connected, exploring AT&T's coverage. That'll give you an idea of what kind of service you can expect from the phone.

I found some holes in voice coverage, but they were not deal breakers. So I bought one, and 3G service in Toledo is completely awesome. Speedtest app shows 1.6 megabits downstream, which is twice the speed I see in Detroit.

Is AT&T's coverage as good as Verizons? As if! Not even close, but it's good enough and a welcome trade to use the handset I desire as opposed to one that Verizon wants me to use.
