Thinking of AT&T... Need insight

I'm currently with US cellular, but I'm moving to a new carrier that has coverage everywhere. and better phones. I looked at the verizon plans and they are pricey and you have to pay for different features and apps monthly. They dont have much of a phone selection, however i really like the BB storm. It seems like you have to pay for everything with verizon... i went to their store and the rep was nice, but the things they show me were pricey. I havent got chance to go to a AT&T store yet. I'm really interested in an iphone( applefanboy here) do you have to pay monthly on apps like verizon?? or when you buy it, its yours?? I looked at AT&T plans, seems a little cheaper than verizon a tad bit. Is AT&T the CDMA?? or is it GSM?? I always have a...

AT&T is a GSM carrier so your unlocked phone will work just fine with them. I have had them for a few months now and live in southwest Florida and have always had a solid 5 bar 3G signal so I personally am very happy with their service. Other people will have to help you out with the iphone questions as I do not use one but I hope this helped.

One thing to check with your phone is the bands of GSM it has. It will work with a US carrier, but it might not access 3g since US GSM carriers use a different band than their European counterparts.

The storm, saga, renown, and bb tour are all world phones with Verizon, so they will work overseas because they have international GSM radios.

I work for a company. I'll be managing a store for the company. Because of my location, I think I'll need to offer more smartphones than most of the stores in our chain do, hence stocking the Ozone.

Verizon and AT&T have almost identical pricing for their plans. Usually you pay one time for iphone apps and they are yours. AT&T is GSM and Verizon is CDMA. If your looking for 3G on your device, you will not get it everywhere with AT&T. My iphone doesn't get 3G in most places I go (including my house). With Verizon, you will have 3G in more area's and less dropped calls.

So you have to decide what is more important to you.. a cool phone with lots of apps, or a more reliable network.

Really? How come I just got off the phone with AT&T... they gave me the unlock code for my old w810i. I did it just to prove you wrong. It only took 10 mins for them to give me the code, sent to my email address and all.

Sorry but whoring/soliciting is exactly what you were doing and it's too bad you don't recognize it. Verizon people are always in here trying to shove their BS down everybody's throat. Saying you can go with a network with cool phones or a more reliable network is definitely pitching for Verizon no matter how you want to spin it. You're the one who sounds like the miserable old man here, not me. Have a happy day LOL.

This is to OP - others, don't bother responding to this, I will NOT be back to READ your angry, ridiculous remarks.
I have never had AT&T, but almost everyone in my family (and many friends) have, and except for 2 all have switched to Verizon. The AT&T phones are cool but don't kid yourself about the prices - AT&T and Verizon run neck and neck. As for service, AT&T drops calls like crazy. For call quality, fast 3G, unbeatable customer service and somewhat decent phones (could be better, but they're certainly not awful...), you can't beat Verizon. And, lastly, you get what you pay for.

If you want a reliable wireless network that you can count on for voice and 3G data service. Get Verizon. We unlock all our GSM phones so if you go over seas, you can use one of there SIM cards. You will still pick up there 3G service there too with the Storm. On the storm, once you buy an apps its yours and you pay no more for it. We have lots of free apps too. Your CSR rep is an old Alltel rep. Most Alltel reps don't know 100% yet on how everything works.

If your phone says EV on it, that stands for 3G High Speed data. You can access Verizon V Cast Video and V Cast Music while on it. Verizon has the largest 3G coverage and Voice coverage area of any wireless network. We have top rating customer service and have been rated best call qual...

Not really...If you people want to spend your entire day acting like commercials then that's your business. I have no stake in whom this person decides to use as his wireless carrier. I just answered, in part, his original question. How the wireless war that ensued got started, I don't know but I am not going to waste any more time on it. Poeple have a right to chose who they want to use as a carrier, and if you guys are obsessed and lifeless enough to keep trying to sell your personal favorite carrier over and over again, then all I can do is pity you. I reported your trolling to the moderator and they will either do something or they won't, just like the people you're trying endlessly to convert will either listen to your soliciting or t...

They probably do. I think people are saying January because that's the first month of the year. I have a feeling there's going to be issues and it's going to take quite a bit longer. You had a good idea before about taking advantage of the 30 day grace periods of the two carriers so you can try them out and see for yourself. If you want the iphone sometime in the immediate future i would say try at&t with a simple phone first and if voice quality and coverage is good in your area, then exchange it for an iphone. Verizon coverage will be comparable to that of at&t, but the iphone release for them is still up for grabs. Nobody can say for sure.

So far at&t is really working out for me. I have great signal and my phone has motorola crystal talk and calls sound great. Customer service has also been a pleasure. Due to an error on my part my last bill was alot higher than it needed to be and when I called to inquire about making 2 payments in installments they were more than happy to help me out. It's good to know that at a time when most people can't spend alot of money, they understood and threw me a life line. So far I would give them an A for customer service and network quality. Keep in mind I have only been with them for 3 months but so far it has all been good. If wishes were horses though, there would be a company with T-Mobile price plans but AT&T or Verizon coverage. Only in...

No sweat. I would say give them a shot. The worst case scenario is that the coverage is not so good and you can cancel service with no penalty. If service is good in your area I think you will be happy though. Good luck with whichever road you choose.

To be honest, I loved Cingulars coverage. I did. I always bragged on how great it was, and it really was. Cingular had the best network then (2006). When they changed the name, that when all the trouble started.

Cingular always helped me. I can't tell you how many phones I went threw!! I went threw 8 razrs in a year, 5 of the 8 were during the summer time... pools and phones don't go together. I had every color, sliver, black, blue, and pink(dont ask). They replaced them all for me. I didn't even have insurance.

My last Cingular phone was the Sync by Samsung. It picked up 3G service and I never had a problem. Where I lived then was in IL. After AT&T came in, I notice that the service degraded. I was having more dropped calls and call...

I decided to go to the stores and got both at&t and verizon. For verizon i got the storm with the lowest plan and a data/text plan. For at&t i got the iphone 3gs. with the lowest 39.99 plan. data etc.. so far. both companies have been really impressive!! I get good signal with both phones in my home. Call quality is good on both. I'm just really impressed with both of them! data.. at&t seems to have faster data cause the pages load up quick and verizon is like... 5 second behind. havent experience any drop calls yet... overall i really like both of them!.. so hard for decsions.

You only have to pay monthly for apps if you subscribe to them. most apps have a purchase and a subscribe option. you purchase it, it is yours until you upgrade.

the only exception are products like VZNAV, Visual Voice Mail, and things listed as features.

ATT is GSM, and their plans are comparable to verizon. They are dollar for dollar on almost everything.

Who the hell pays attention to statistics? In my part of Florida at&t does infinitely better than Verizon but they say Verizon is the best in the southeast anyway. That's definitely a laugh. Stats mean nothing except to the people that created them. Neither carrier is better than the other on the whole. It's all about location and articles having carrrier contests won't tell you that. He'll have to see how AT&T works in his area and if not then try something else.

And whats your area code?

And you think your area is the best for AT&T, so AT&T should be the highest ranked in the southeast?

FAIL!

JD Power takes a survey from customers on every network all across the southeast. People find Verizon to be the best.

We are America's Most Reliable Wireless Network.
