Family Plan Data Package?

Copper Emeritus

Have any of the higher ups at AT&T ever considered a Family Plan Data package for their plans, much like the Unlimited Messaging for Family Plans?

How would that work if their was a mix of Blackberrys and other PDAs?

They dont have an unlimited data yet for families at one price but they did start if you have unlimited family text data is just $10 per line. Not quite a family package but not a bad deal either from the normal $15

as far as with BB and PDA's i dont know how they would swing it

That's the main reason there is not one. My account for example has one PDA, one Blackberry, and one iPhone. They could manually credit me something for paying the $90 but unless you had all of the same data phones you can't have one group code to cover it.

Besides, with the price difference the only way it would ever happen would probably be for standard phones only. Too big of a price jump between standard to PDA-BB-iPhone Data and then the soc code issues.

I heard rumors of family data that would cost $30 for the first line and $15 for each add a line with a PDA/BB/iPhone. Haven't heard anything lately about it.

This would be a good thing for anyone. I know Verizon is in the process of doing something like this.

Alright, enough! We all know that you enjoy dropping your pants and squealing like a pig for Verizon but stop trying to push them on everyone. Despite what your disturbingly obsessed mind thinks, Verizon is not the best, just the best for you. You say that VZW can do all these wonderful things. Too bad that can't fit you with a mind and personality of your own. If your life is so terrible that all you can do is be a robot with the expressiveness of a broken record, then you should be pitied and left in a dark room to rust and be forgotten. You're not doing any good in the AT&T forums so just stick with VZW and the other nutjobs who shoot a load whenever they see the can you hear me now guy. Give it a rest already.

Yes he is a troll but he has a point. If verizon creates a plan ATT will do so within a week or so of verizon announcing it because they need to.

Just like if ATT developed a plan Verizon would have to follow suite.

That's not true at all, but it is possible. I don't care either way but you'll just have to wait and see.

Verizon comes out with an unlimited calling plan, att does within a week.

ATT launches the iphone at 199, now all touch screen smartphones have to match that price point.

As the two biggest competitors, they need to follow each other lockstep. ATT has rollover, verizon has Friends and family.. so there are differences. But for things like family data plans.. you can bet if one carrier comes out with it the other will have to come out with an answer.

Show me something from a law book. Don't give me opinions or good business practice mumbo jumbo. If I see something in black and white from a reputable law book then I will agree. Until then, it's just a matter of what they should do, not what they have to do.

It's not a law. it's business.

If ATT comes out with a family data plan and verizon doesn't then verizon will start losing any customers who have 2 or more smartphones on a family plan. The same goes for if Verizon comes out with a plan and ATT doesn't follow.

It's not a law, but it's common sense business. Same reason if one gas station lowers their prices the other will most likely follow suit or suffer the loss of customers.

I never claimed it was a law

Thanks, that's just a long winded way of saying they should do it to stay competitive but they don't have to do it, and doesn't mean they will do it. Good business or not, if it's not law then you can't say they will definitely do or not do something. That was my original point. It's their choice, not their obligation.
