Got a vent, ATT really does suck!!!

Tell them the ETF is to cover the cost of subsidized equipment. Keep calling back and offer to return the device.

This is not unique to AT&T. Not every Telco is eager to lose money on crediting the ETF for your subsidized equipment.

AT&T has had major network issues in the last year. I looked up articles on it, and in my area we have real spotty coverage as it is.

I love their phones, but the network is subpar.

I was looking at coverage maps, it looks like Verizon offers the best 3G in your area. Sprint goes into roam towrds the East of you off Verizon. Also, your area will have Verizon 4G soon. Seattle area will get 4G from Verizon. How soon? I have no idea. But it will be in 2010.

Oh, there's an objective opinion from someone whose name has "VZW" in it.

Both AT&T and Verizon have 3G coverage all around Seattle and the surrounding areas. AT&T has recently announced they will be offering LTE (4G) in 2011 as well and they have 700 MHz spectrum licenses in Seattle. AT&T doesn't need to launch LTE as quickly as Verizon does, because AT&T's 3G network goes far beyond anything Verizon's EV-DO can do. Verizon is in a bind with speed and they need to act fast to catch up.

Not necessarily true....In my area Verizon surpasses At&t's data speeds Hands Down. AT&T is still dial up speed here (coming straight from an employee in one of our local store. Verizon is high speed. 😛

Maybe you missed the part where we have BEEN TALKING ABOUT SEATTLE THE ENTIRE TIME. And no, AT&T EDGE is not dial-up. It is 140-200 kbps which is considered broadband by technical standards.

I am comparing network technologies, and I am well aware that in some places Verizon has EV-DO where AT&T still has EDGE.

Sure, now my 3G is gone but I still got plenty of EDGE coverage. I couldn't even check my E-mail on EDGE.

I just want to end my contract without an ETF because ATT's 3G signal doesn't penetrate into the depths of this building. Where I was before it did, barely but it worked.
Their coverage maps says I should have 3G, but I don't. Now you want me to pay you to cancel my contract because you can no longer provide me with what you said you would...and did. 😡
It doesn't matter what carrier it is, I'd expect the same thing from any of them.

Ok, if you can't check your e-mail on EDGE then either there is something wrong with your phone or you have no idea what the hell you are doing. I'm not sure if you remember, but there was this certain iPhone that was out for a year that only had EDGE. It had an e-mail application on it, how do you think that worked?

WOW, I’m truly jealous. You obviously have more time then sense. Did you even read the original post? There’s no mention of a phone…my troubles are with an ATT data card. 😲
But just to piss you off more, I think ATT is quickly becoming the next Sprint. 😈

I did work for att. I used verizon for a bit but they didn't work that well were I live and I did go to the verizon forums and asked questions. And the post I responded too I said sprints metrics were improving which is a contrast to att declining. Not sure if that is considered cheerleading but an observation also you were helpful with some questions I had and I always thanked you. I was trying to make it personal with you

If you cant figure out how to check your e-mail with a data card, this is much more painful than i had previously thought.

I rather have 3G speeds everywhere I go then EDGE speeds. Oh, and My storm beat the iPhone 3G in a speed test... IN THE APPLE STORE!

Plus, all the Apple workers want a iPhone on Verizon. The manager even has Verizon as you service and iPod Touch for his music. Why? AT&Ts network is HORRIBLE.

Tonight just ain't workin' for ya', huh Dizz?

in theory umts (and it's upgrades) is much better than evdo because of voice and data being able to be done simultaneous. i just think apple didn't know how poor at&t's network was ran before the agreement was reached.

Most of these links are opinions and speculations. But as an AT&T user, I can tell you that coverage is spotty, especially in my area where I am supposed to have stellar coverage.

I remember back when AT&T Wireless had massive network issues that dragged on and on, which eventually led to its demise.

AT&T Wireless' network was a nightmare. AT&T Mobility is still working on fixing what it took over. Most complaints I see on blogs come from west coast users, where AT&T wireless was dominant, and where there is a surplus of 1900 MHz frequency where AT&T wireless should have invested in 850.

the at&t wireless network in all of the west cost was 850. cingular and t-mobile built a 1900 network together and then cingular moved their customers off the 1900 network to the 850 network they got from at&t wireless... they spun off their 1900 network to t-mobile in exchange for new york network...and network integration was completed in 2006. so it's taken 3 years fix something that cingular, not at&t wireless broke? no. it's been poor management and one mishap after another with network planning since 'the new' at&t and de la vega has made that has been the nightmare...

My family had Cingular for years, and once it became the New Tastes great less filling AT&T, my family saw a drop ...

well it started with 'an error' in sending out the new at&t alpha tags back in '07... only at&t could screw something like that up.

when at&t sent out the alpha tags to change from cingular to at&t they screwed up the plmn which cause a flood of customers roaming to get messed up. remember the whole 'every since at&t took over my service hasn't been as good' statements. but one thing did was put a hold on funds for network until mid last year. then they started doing the 1900/850 swap for 3G and trying to identify network related churn issues. but it seems like every time they turn around they are having widespread outages. and no other company is going through that...

You have all this time to waste coming into the AT&T forum and shoving your ridiculous opinions on everybody like a drug pusher. It's obvious you dropped your pants and squealed like a pig for Verizon a long time ago, but that doesn't mean the rest of us have to.

If you like that overpriced, phone-crippling, don't give a rat's *** about their customers company then good for you. That does not make them the best, just the best for you. Some of us are very happy with AT&T. Some of us get great coverage and call quality and quality phones with AT&T. Last time I checked, Verizons prices are the same. Also, Verizons coverage beats AT&T in Voice and Data. And if they didn't care about us, then WHY do we have Top Rating Customer Service? Next, nothing is crippled about our phones. It just seems like you have nothing els to do but complain about another wireless network that is better than yours.

Its sad that you pay the same price as us Verizon customers do, but get poor coverage with AT&T.
