Wait a minute..Prepaid now cheaper than Contract lines????

brandyT

3 bucks a day for unlimited talk and only on the days you use your phone. So if you use your phone everyday, it will be 90 dollars in a 30 day month and that includes tax. I have the unlimited plan with a 2 year contact an i pay 99 PLUS TAX bucks regardless I use the phone or not. Can somebody make any sense of this? I thought contract customers are most profitable and usually get better rates than pre paid. Can't wait for TMO to put up a tower near where i live. I am tired of getting ripped off by ATT

You only get native at&t coverage on the go phone and no roaming partner coverage. Go look at the side by side coverage of your plan and what it would be with a go phone. Now if you never travel this might be a cheaper option for you but for those who do then it would be a frustrating situation.

I hate to say it but BOOST is a hell of a deal at 50.00 a month unl. with all the trimmings. My brother n law has it and has the exact same (if not better) coverage than my VZ phone. And I know he roams of VZ towers and it's a Sprint service...go figure 👿

How could he be roaming off VZW? Boost uses Sprint's iDEN, VZW doesn't have any iDEN. 😕

Your a fool, boost runs of iden network, doesn't matter if boost has some cdma towers. If the phone is iden it cant run of a diff network. Its like trying to get a tmobile sidekick to work on verizon.....

But you happen to be the fool..... When boost first started trialing the unlimited plan, they were using CDMA PHONES, SERVICE, TOWERS, etc.... So YES, a BOOST CDMA phone IS able to roam off of VZW..... Jackass....

Voice of Reason, you are a nitwit. First you make false claims thinking they are true, and then you launch personal attacks when you are refuted. Calling Kayslay a jackass is not cool. She was simply telling you that Boost only uses the iDEN network for its customer base. It's not like she was insulting your mother...

The cheesy personal remarks are so ... 1998 and so ... Prodigy. 😉 There is no cause to get personal. Put the facts out, let the public decide.

My father told me to never argue with idiots because 1- You'll never change their minds and, 2 - Onlookers can never tell who is who.

Arguing on the internet is like competing in the special olympics..

Even if you win, you're still retarded.

What's? That's impossible! Boost can only roam with Nextel, and we all know that's like saying Go Phones roam with AT&T.

the unlimited you get on postpay is anyone on any carrier (even landlines). The unlimited you get on prepay is only to other AT&T cell phones. And the coverage is not the same (sigma1570 already mentioned this)

As a couple people have stated as well. You r coverage map is not as good. You can only use the at&t towers. So you do have limitations on your coverage. Also if you have a Blackberry or any kind of data device you will be able to use any them because there are not any pda data plans. Also you don't get a discount on any devices. So you will have to pay full retail price for any phones you want. It seem better. Also you have to refill your minutes its just not as simple. So you not really getting screwed out of anything.

one thing with prepaid you dont pay the high taxes like postpay does.also prepay phones run less than full retail.not quite the prices of postpay 2 year prices but not full retail. usually runs half of retail.or around 50.00 more than 2 year prices. this is by prices i have got phones at for prepay.

The post was mis-placed. There were some people saying they have a boost phone that has roamed off of VZW, and everyone was saying how impossible that is, and I was clarifying just how possible that actually is.

A few points to consider before you break out the pitchfork:

Coverage:

As already stated, there is no off-network roaming, so your coverage is severely limited in the US, and you are only able to Internationally roam in Mexico with GoPhone service

Equipment Cost:

Full retail price for any non-GoPhone equipment, ie: all smart phones and quality quick messaging devices...as much as $200 more depending on handset and current rebate offers

Equipment Warranty:

With GoPhone service, if you need your handset replaced, you are required to give AT&T a credit card. We place a hold on the out-of-warranty charge on the card until the defective handset is received and shown to be covered under warranty

Features and Data Service:

While I would tend to agree with you insider, considering the $99.99 plan at AT&T only includes voice, a lot of your arguments don't make sense.

An honest assessment puts Sprint as the clear winner for those power users you speak of. As much as their customer service takes a beating I find them to be much better these days.

You need to look at the coverage maps tho. AT&T has no roaming off Alltel GSM networks and Verizon GSM networks. In AL tho, they do have Roaming off Verizon GSM networks but not in the whole US.

Sprint or T-mobile will certainly beat AT&T or Verizon on price. They do this because their coverage is always an issue and I personally don't care for most of Sprint's equipment line up...the Pre being the possible exception...

GoPhone monthly cost: $129.99 plus taxes
Unlimited talk time, Unlimited Text messaging, 100 MB of data service on non-smartphones, no integrated email support, MMS counts against Data service

Contract monthly cost: $149.99 plus taxes, minus discounts for employment
Unlimited talk time, Text & MMS, & data on any smartphone including the iPhone, integrated email support for all handsets

if you put it all into perspective, $20 is worth the difference IMHO

Thanks for putting it into perspective. I'm a

Check your coverage. AT&T doesnt allow Roaming on most network like they do on contract.
