Agents and Walmart

It has been a few months since the last I hate Walmart thread. Think it is time for a new one.

So I go by the local connection center kiosk. Not only has it expanded to 9 different phones, their update pricing is unbelieveable.

Prices are the same with an upgrade or activation.

Bold - $279
E71x - $59
Eternity - $79
Xenon - $49
Jack - $68
Vu - $15
Propel - $0
W760 - $0
Curve $19

All I can say is holly ****! I hate National retail. Although we agents are within $40 or so after rebate, come on....

Corporate America
It's all a big conspiracy and there is nothing we can do about it. Next thing you'll start seeing is Walmart will put ma and pa stores out of business and we will only have one choice for food and consumer products. Then it will be mandatory for everyone to get a flu shot there. Then we all lose our natural immune system and die.

$40 or not people complain when Walmart is free and I'm free after rebate. I've lost sales because of ignorant people not wanting to shell out $50 only to get it back. And then when they return it to Walmart they take the SIM card back since it's part of the phone. Bwahaha.

You are REALLY going to hate me.

I added a second line at an AT&T store for the BB Pearl, paid 100 bucks. Then I went home to Indiana for a week, stopp...

i realize you did this for the better price but initially it would have given any at&t rep good commission for the activation/BB features rather than a walmart employee who works for nothing but hourly. ☹️

I do thank you for not blaming AT&T for the phone defect. I get tired of people blaming the company. It is RIM's product.

AT&T doesn't manufacture phones. They sell voice and data services for the phones that other companies make. Why the ordinary person doesn't get it, I'll never know.

And you are welcome. A defect phone is always the manufacturer's fault, always. AT&T is innocent here. Take care, and have a kick-butt memorial day weekend.

What irritates me the most about the whole situation is that corporate continues to tell us that they have roughly the same comp plan and phone price plan we do.

So, to prove them corporate assholes wrong, I decided to send them an email showing the price for the Samsung Impression at Radio Shack which is $49.99. So, say we do a $9.99 upg for the Impression and sale it at $99.99 with a $50 MIR, us agents would still lose over $100 before you pay commission to your reps for it. Its complete bullshit IMO. Yet their only response is, sell phones they don't carry. Thats not a solution. Only a workaround. On top of that, we aren't sllowed to sell the number one selling phone for AT&T. Ugh, being an agent for AT&T sucks, just shady bus...

I am very doubtful Walmart has the same comp structure as normal agents do. If they are the same, at&t isnt marking up the phones $17 to $85 dollars to them like they do us.

My Inventory coordinatore at the FDC, accidently sent us an email with true att cost about 6 months ago. I almost lost it. I wish I had the email still, I would have forwarded it to you.

Why gouge the agents? A "modest mark" up is ok, but why rip us off? The highest markup was of the newest handsets at the time. Fockers!

I know for a fact Best Buy gets a flat $300 per activation regardless of teir. Give me $300 for an add a line activation! If my rate plan mix is 50% $59.99 and higher, that is a lot of money to be made.

Good call on the Radioshack email. at&t...

I would of loved to see that phone price list. I dont see how this industry is ass backwards.

Agents have a way better customer sales experience(not to mention higher ARPU) then national retailers(for the most part), especially wal mart. You would think it would be smart for AT&T to put everyone on the same page as far as price goes, this way it comes down to customer service rather then price.

Thats interesting you had the choice of SMF or 90 day chargeback. Agents never have a choice. But hey, atleast we get to sell the Samsung Eternity refurb phones now. Pfft...

Just to clarify, I chose not to do the Radioshack route. My overhead due to my volume of opps is rediculos anyway. An exclusive contract is the only way to go with at&t.

I am passing on the refurb Eternity deal. I guess the return rate has been higher on those. I can't remenber if I was ever offered a refurb phone to purchase directly from at&t. BUt marking them at $69.99 2 yr pricepoint wouldnt be bad. I just hate selling someone else's problem. Even though they were reflashed and tested....my ass. New phones don't last the full 2 years anymore.

Not to mention, I would get those customers who are aware of the 90 day only warranty and still decline the phone insurance.

Personally - I preferred Sam's Club.
I renewed my 2nd line with a $17 Motorola V9x - no MIR, and tax of ~$2. I only had to pay the $18 'upgrade' fee 😡

to the radio shack agents selling those cheap acer laptops with built in air card, can we start telling the customers that there is a switch on the front that u need to move to the left for 3g instead wifi, that is for the reps who knew that , every tech call ive taken that was the only issue for why cus cannot connect data, this included several calls from the radio shack agents directly. how don't u guys know about that, obviously a cus buying a laptop from a cell phone carrier isn't pc literate to begin with
