Hey Guys - anyone know if this can be done ????

Can a family plan possibly be done with phone numbers from 2 different area codes on it? My friend has her plan in 810, but wants to have a 615 area code number on that family plan, for 1 phone thats going to be used for their family business in Tenessee. We arranged to get a new phone already, with its own 615 number, but now AT&T won't add it to the existing family plan.

Any Hope here?? Please let me know, it doesn't sound that unreasonable !! Thanks !!!

She's not porting in, right? Cause it can be done that way.

Or, you can hassle customer care. I know on T-Mobile that if a rep says you can't do that, you hang up and try again. usually I can get a rep to do it. It's not like the system won't allow it. It's just a "rep" thing. Keep calling them and asking them to give a different number. Someone will do it.

If the two area codes are in different markets then no. Since the 2 are in different states I would assume they are not going to be in the same market. I've run in to this problem before with customers wanting to add a line for a college kid in a different state. As far as I know, it is impossible. Sorry

Sure it can me done. Ask customer care to transfer you to the NBI team. From there they can set up and individual NBI account. This will allow lines in multiple markets on the same plan.

My newphew in Lubbock (West Texas market) is on a famly talk plan with my wife here in the Dallas market.

I set this up at least once a week form my customers.

OK so call in and ask for NBI .. ? I can do that .. whatever NBI is 😳 !! But yeah that's what we want to do, is have 2 members in different markets .. their initial comment was - every number in the family plan has to change to the new area code. Thanks ! Gonna try that tomorrow !

Yeah and anyone thats caught doing it can be given a Code of Business for that since its not a business account.

There is nothing in the CSP or from my RAE, ARSM, etc, that states anyone with an individual account can't have an NBI account because they are not a business.

Say a company I work for that has an NBI account ans wishes to take ofer my line via a TOS. If I were ever to part ways with the company and the release the line back to me. NBI has to put me on an NBI individual account. Since you can go from your native market to NBI, but you cant go backwards, this is the only solution.

I dont know if employees can't or won't do this for people, at the end of the day, it is about growing the business and making the customer happy.

I hear what you are saying. The only case that they will let a cust have an NBI on an individual basis is just like you said. If they are on a company NBI and leave the company and do a TOS then they will be an individual on an NBI account. I have tried in the past to get NBI to change an existing cust from regular to NBI and they won't do it. If you have access to Telegance then you can do it yourself. You might get caught and in trouble but NBI will not create an account for an individual just to have cross market numbers.

If this is set up as a Business Account in NBI, it is possible. Local market IRU accounts cannot have cross-market FT plans.
It is not a case of not wanting to do it, it simply is a case of not being possible in the old system.

FYI, NBI = National Billing Instance. This is a nationwide billing "territory" that was created to allow business accounts to have lines from multiple geographic territories on a single billing account. Key words here are "business account". If you are eligible to create a business account, you can move the other lines over to that account.

Honest I'm not trying to get anyone in trouble!! Apparently she's found someone who is going to help her tomorrow, so life is good. This account goes back to when blue was blue because Cingy hadn't even bought them up yet. She just wants to have a local area code for the phone thats going to be in Tennessee most of the time. Doesn't sound like a big deal to me. They went to the trouble of buying a phone in Tenn (through the shack) and having it shipped up here to michigan after it got its number. Now she wants it added to her family plan. No big deal ?? Anyways - I hope not. Thanks guys !
