Meida Net

I am looking at getting a couple of LG VU's for my wife and I through Wirefly.com. The phones are free with a new 2 year agreement but it also says that I have to get a media net plan. Is it possible to cancel the media net plan after I sign up?

Usually not. With wirefly they typically require you to keep the mediaplan for 6 months. If you cancel before that they charge you an outrageous fee.

You would be much better off going into a store and asking them what kind of deal they can give you. For one, if you have a problem with the Vu or you don't like it during the first 30 days you are in for a nightmarish situation trying to get it replaced with something different. Secondly, do your research on wirefly and see how many class action lawsuits have been filed against them.

What you should try and do is go through these distributors from best to worst.

1. Corporate at&t or and Agent.
2. Costco
3. Radioshack
4. Bestbuy
5. wally world.
4.

I know they push the media plans at the stores too. Has there ever been a time when someone told the salesman they don't want the data plan and they actually listened? I know they get comission on selling accessories and data plans, but that's exactly why I was looking to avoid a AT&T store.

Most reps will tell you the benefits, but but not force it if you do not want the package.

Personally, I would rather not get the commission if I know im gonna get charged back.

It depends what region of AT&T you are in. When I used to work for them they preached to us to basically shove the media plan down the customer's throat until they bought it. We had to be told no 3 times or we would get in trouble if our manager overheard the sale. I saw my managers multiple times get yelled at because people didn't listen after the first no or two.

Find a use verses shoving it down their throat. You an always present the positive aspects in the face of rebuttals without being a jerk about it.

I totally agree with you and that's the way I operate but the managers and higher ups only cared about asking if they wanted it, not actually selling it or scamming them into it by trying to give something away with it in the hope that the customer would forget to take it off before their next bill. It's frustrating when you are trying to do the best for the customer but know that you will get yelled at if you don't attack the customer.

I only offer it when they use it... if they get a .20c charge for media net on their bill that is foolish to offer a 15.00 or 30.00 internet plan. I dont care if i get in trouble or not.

That makes no sense. If you buy from wirefy, they are getting commission from you adding media. whats the difference between a website getting it or someone in your community? I would rather support my local community. If you get it through wirefly then take off the feature, you will be charged more for the phone. you are a lot better off going to a local store. We do not make you add the feature if you do not want to add it. Just be careful dealing with the internet.

Wirefly.com is good if you want the plan they are offering. If you want something other than they require for their deal, then its not for you. You'll pay more in the long run for trying to cheat the system. The Vu isn't a cheap phone. It has streaming satellite television for goodness sake. Admittedly a store will try and get you to try a feature. That's their job. However, when you sign up in a store the only thing you will be obligated to is a two year contract on a service plan after the first thirty days. Features are not contractual (Iphone excepted) if you sign up in a store.

Also, a sales man can take no for an answer. Wirefly.com can't. On a side note, I would suggest being honest when you purchase your device from a st...

๐Ÿคฃ My bad. I haven't used the Eternity yet, so I couldn't suggest one over the other. Either way, both phones offer a digital receiver for streaming Television. That stuff isn't cheap!

Bigger phone loss if you are an indirect. It averages out. The Vu and Eternity are good devices for a couple reasons though. Not only do you have the basic internet($15) and messaging ($20), but you've also got MobileTV ($10) on there as well. So, $5 in features than a PDA with Messaging Unlimited with half the loss on a two year.
