Good morning. Cingular authorized Dealer in NJ. I have been selling the new TREO 650 like crazy. This is the nicest phone I have seen in ages. Here is my question, I have gotten many different answers. According to literature Media Net plans are for web browsing on an phone, such as $19.99 for 8 meg and $24.99 unlimited. Not referring to the Bundles with messages, just the data buckets. For a device such as the TREO we have been told to sell the PDA data plan $29.99 plan for 5 megs and the $39.99 unlimited. (which I was told just went to $49.99). I realize there is greater data usage on a PDA.
But why such a high entry point? I have been getting the answer that they are configured differently, media net wont let you get to ...

What market in NJ? 38 or 39? And the $39.99 PDA unlimited plan is still $39.99, and yes the system will kick back the Media bundles.

The standard WIX packages now apply to all PDA devices EXCEPT for the Blackberry and PCMCIA Cards. 24.99 for unlimited internet. This started Feb 14th.

I am in market 42 NJ/NYC. Ok, so we can put the media net plans such as $24.99 unlimited on the TRE 650. Why does the mail in rebate only apply when you take the "unlimited pda connect plan" This is the one for $39.99 right? Much inconsistancy.

Gotcha! So, this is the how I am interrupting all of this. Ok to sell TREO with media net plan, but rebate will not go through because it is not the "true pda data plan". Sounds like just another corporate glitch

they should still honor the rebate with the unlimited WIX plan (24.99), since that is what replaced the PDA connect plans

I agree. This is not uncommon. A little internal confusion, at a big company? you dont say? lol!. ATTWS had the same size bundles for handset browsing and pda usage. They just had them lisited 2x as two diff things
mmode for handset browsing and "mobile internet for pda's and a 3rd set for tethering and pc cards.

Thanks again all.

You can sell either Media Works or PDA packages on the Treo. Difference are: no mail in rebate with Media and the PDA is a much more secure connection than Works. Different ISPs. So if people are using it to get confidential emails the PDA packages is better.

In Philadelphia the rebate states the $39.99 still. I don't have anything else that is different, wish I did though because the $24.99 would be much better.

Cingular did come out and say you could put MEdia net on the Treo650 starting on the 14th. That lasted all of 4 days. They have since retracted that and will only allow PDA connect plans, like unlimited for $39.99, on the Treo.
