I wanted to buy the bold contract free but the COR att store said they wouldn't. So I went to best buy and they priced matched ATT and I got my bold today!!
...
That's what we've heard as well. Agents will sell it to you though.
...
I won't with my initial shipment. Too much demand from those who want it activated or upgraded.
...
Oh Well, att loses that sell. not sure how much money they make with that stuff but seems silly to me, since i wanted to buy accesories too
...
When demand exceeds supply in many areas we aren't losing a sale. I will have all mine sold with activation or upgrade before I get any more. I cannot afford to sell one on no contract unless I charge the price that Best Buy charges ($649).
...
I have no issues with a no commitment sale.
I have mine priced out right at $629. So that makes a $115 profit, not to mention they will probably add the BB $30, which equals $120 profit, assuming they vest.
I will take $230 any day. On Contracts, they are subsidizing it $115 dollars. Tier 1 and 3 ups with a BB plan equals minimal profit. Unless it is a tier 5 upgrade, mine are vouched for new and outrights only.

I have had some of the people balk at the higher price. If someone bought it for $649.99 I would sell it as well.
...
Are you guys price-matching COR pricing for the bold and taking the hit? I would assume no if its an upg on a $9.99 line considering the abysmal pay scale on upgrades.
...
If they are getting the BIS I will sell it for that price. I cannot guarantee the rebate though as it states it must be on a $39.99 voice plan or higher.
...
That is for the primary line. They will get the rebate for the added line.
...
Just reading what the fine print says. Most people don't. Many of those are the same people who say "Nobody told me...".
...
Bojmir,
If the customer already has the BIS plan and I can't get an FTME or some other texting package, I am selling it at $429.99 with an upgrade. Havent had a complaint yet. $84 of subsidy is a little easier to swallow.
Feature family sucks, for obvious reasons. At least I could change the old package on the beggining of their billing cycle to the updated SOC.

Not really. AT&T sold it to Walmart. They still get their cut. Not only that, but they'll make 50-100x the amount on an upgrade or an act than they would on the outright.
...
our "retail" mark-up is high enough to compensate for that.
...
Mine is $649 no contract right now.
...
The lowest we'll go is $615.
...
huh, well I guess I got a good deal then when Best Buy priced matched at 549........anyone want to buy a Iphone 3g?
...
not with a ten foot pole.
...
I didn't know polls were worth anything.
...
I should be more forward. I wouldn't touch an iPhad with a 10ft. pole. Polls (politicians) are not worth anything anyway you look at it.
...
haha. Yes well, hopefully I can sell it on ebay
...
I am among the ones who won't sell them outright just yet. I don't have that many and I have no doubt that each one I get my hands on will go out as an upgrade or new activation. If I sell that phone outright, I am netting maybe $50 profit. The average blackberry going out on new contracts gives me around $600 in profit.
Truly, if you want a phone out of contract you should go to Best Buy anyway. COR and Agent locations are not in business to sell phones outright. Even buying a couple of accessories with your retail phone purchase won't make up for the loss when someone else comes in to upgrade and we sold one to someone at retail price and miss out on the real sale.
...
Yeah some directors in areas are being brats about the pricing on the bold. Some stores will sell at out right and others wont. It is ridiculous.
...
I'm glad you (the consumer!) got what you wanted.
So you got the Bold contract free? Any changes to your acct? Or did you just pay, walk out and put your sim in?
...
Nope, no changes to my account. Didnt' even need my accout number. just paid the no contract price (549), and that was it. Really pretty easy, and impressed with Best Buy.
...
Good! That's the way a purchase should be! Who knows, maybe I'll go to Best Buy and check out the HTC Fuze when it comes out, that device really appeals to me.
Best Buy is making carrier stores look BAD!
...
Price without new account: $579.99
...
Well I understand why they wont' sell them with no contract. They don't make any money on phone purchases. They want that 24 month contract with the features. Most dealers will sell them for more then retail because they can make a profit.
