? about GSM/TDMA selection - 6340i field test
A bit of background - I live in the boonies in NW Virginia, a spotty area for Cingular coverage. I had minor problems with quality and a 5165 phone, so upgraded to 6340i and GAIT. Fortunately I live on the SE side of a mountain with sufficient elevation to give me signal strength in the high 80s while at home.
I've been observing while in field test mode (after doing a lot of research) various network selection characteristics, and have questions.

With CELL BARR ACCEPTED 0101 displays GSM characteristics indicating that I am using GSM. 2101 always displays ACCH when GSM is active, DCCH not available.
With CELL BAR DISCARD either can happen - GSM or CAMPING on DCCH.
