Buying phone for a girlfriend, need help,first time buying someone a phone!
Ok, i want to buy this phone for my girlfriend but i've never done this before. She owns a Motorola V500 and it's been giving her some problems lately. I came across the offer of 50$ for one of these and i have a CDM9900(verizon).
It seems like a nice phone,nice build,everything she needs and wants, BUT i know how complicated phones get nowadays and contracts. I'm 17 turning 18 in april. She's 18 and has her own contract(2yr) and i wanted to buy her this phone for Valentines day along with some other things.
Thing is, do i need a contract or sign one to buy her the phone?She said she could switch phones without changing her contract with cingular or renewing but i wasn't sure because verizon doesn't let their members do this. Can anyon...

Make sure the phone is GSM easiest way to do that is simply take the battery out and see if there is a Card in there it is GSM and as far as the phone you would haft to buy it outright Most decent phones start at 169.99 if you dont want to extend her contract. for the phone if the one you think isnt gsm go to ebay good luck

Yea wanted to get her the Sony Ericcson V500(i think thats the phone) cause cingular has a 50$ deal on it. So i need to know if he Motorola V500 is a GSM phone?I know it is. So all i must do is buy the SEV500 and replace the battery?

Unless you have a contract with Cingular or she renews her (if she is eligible) you wont be able to get a discounted price for it. You will have to pay the retail price of the phone.

So then you want to go to ebay to try to find it cheap its like $71-$150 on ebay and then just stick her sim card in there make sure she has phone insurance on her account and have your friendly neighborhood store update the account IMEI #

Yep, you'll have to go ebay for the best deal. We charge $210 for that model in store, which is only a $50 mark up. For the record, the model is a Z500. Not criticizing, just trying to make your search for it online easier.
