Refurbished Phones

I was on the At&t site today and I noticed that At&t loves to sell refurb'd phones. Are these phones really reconditioned to like new or are they like the crappy replacements you get thru your insurance? 😕

They would be the same phones you get through INS....That are supposed to be "like new". I personaly wouldnt trust them tho. They also only come with a 90 day warranty (Its hard to find that info on the site and most people dont know that, but its true). Suck it up and just buy a new one and I'm sure you will be glad you did. 😉

I wasn't planning on buying a used phone. I was just curious because At&t has a ton of used phones on their site an no other major carrier does that.

Yeah, its at&t being cheap/greedy, selling phones that other people already paid for and had problems with... 🙄

And then people come into the store asking for a certain phone free because it is online not even bothering to realize (or suppressing) the fact that it's refurbished and what we have is new.

These stupid phones are one of the reasons why I'm considering leaving AT&T. Those phones come back in droves! AT&T claims that they bring the phones to a "like new state" that's nothing but BS. I think they don't even check them at all, as soon as they get them, they ship them right out to another person. If they really checked them customers wouldn't be getting them without batteries, without battery covers, with a broken charger, missing the charger, or just plain dead.

i buy a lot of refurbished phoens and don't have any problems with them. it's perception. i don't see any more problems with refurbs than new phones.

The failure rate is probably the same, but that three month warranty can bite you in the ass on a refurb. Of course, that only applies to when you get a refurb as your upgrade, not through warranty or insurance. I never recommend buying a refurb as your upgrade or activation without getting insurance.

Yeah, it really sucks. I work warranty and ever since they started selling tons of refurb phones we have been getting bombarded with pissed off customers with out of warranty phones because they crap out after 90 days. None of them have any idea that the phone didnt have a year warranty on them because everyone (including the website) neglects to tell them.

I'm really starting to hate working for at&t...
