K850i

Last week I received a Sony Ericsson K850i from J and R in New York. After using it for about a week now I have come to the conclusion that if ATT decides not to pick up this phone it would be a huge mistake. Great phone, outstanding call quality, and top notch reception. All the things you need from a phone and plenty of goodies you like to have.

Now can someone tell me if being unbranded has anything to do with reception? Because I'm starting to notice I have reception now in places where before I had little to none. Also everyone I talk to has said that they can hear me more clearly and better than ever before including my W810i(low volume), my Blackberries (Pearl and 8310), and my Nokia 6682(just an awesome device which I never ...

AT&T Dropped the release date on this phone...

They were supposed to release the Greatest Camera Phone ever Made, and decided to drop it...

I lost Alot of customers faith after that, because I hyped it up so much, but they had a launch date and store signage as well...

Long story short...Mine should arrive today from a Gentleman in Canada and I am SOOOO EXCITED TO Use a REAL Phone...

Bottom Line......

Sony & Nokia Run **** and they are the TOP OF THE LINE....

Nothing Else even exist in the mind of a real mobile phone user..

Peace

I know precisely what you are saying because I use the Nokia N95-3, spectacular phone. And I do all my internet surfing and music listening on it. I also like to use the 5mp camera to take pix of construction on the strip.
I've owned my N95 since December last year, almost July and ATT still doesn't have a 5mp cameraphone, I read on Boy Genius Report ATT is picking up the Samsung Omnia, amazing device.

Yeah the K850i has been a godsend to this point. Great pictures, I must say when I was in 3g that the data speeds were ridiculously faster than any ATT branded phone I've seen. The thing is it's only rated at 3.6 MBps but then again so was my V3xx now that makes me wonder if the branding has anything to do with it.

so fast, huh? My unlocked N95 is reasonably fast, I wouldn't say blazing though.

How bout you Google Cnet Bandwidth test and share what speed your SE gets.

Will do when I return to a 3g location. Currently I'm fluctuating between GPRS and EDGE.

I don't think it really matters if it is an unlocked phone or not, I think the SE quality is and knowledge of how to maximize the signal strength is why it got such a good flow. Remember, some 3G networks just were updated to the HSPA from HSDPA. That area you were in might have had the newer network.

My k850i had a malifunction. The touch sensitive shortcut keys will "press" themselves now, making the phone useless....anyone have any ideas for my paperweight?

Manufacturer's warranty? Did you call Sony Ericsson? The battery cover on my W610 wore out from swapping SIM cards so much. I called them and they sent me two new ones. I was impressed!

HSDPA is a part of HSPA. It's not a pathway from A to B.

Maybe Sony makes their phones work great for the first few months then they get the "white screen of death".

Soccer stinks.

First of all I'm not even going to dignify that last line with a response. Second I believe that was only an issue with one model. Sony Ericsson makes high quality products and it is unfortunate that we here in the States are being dumbed down by phones like the Samsung A437 and A737 as well as the LG CU515. There's no problem getting the N95 or SE K850i for free with vodafone in the UK and their network is 3g. And third the iPhone has never had a round SIM card. Google it and send me the picture I will be waiting.

BTW how is Sebastian

HA HA 😁 . Sebastian is good. the problem you have is that people in America are cheap. they don't even know what 3G is half the time and don't even care what happens in our country much less what is happening in England or any other country. They don't want to pay for a phone.

ATT knows this but SE is used to how things work overseas. Now that Nokia and SE have seen that Apple needed to have subsidize the iPhad, maybe they will see the way to get into the US consumers homes.

Both also need to start advertising their phones. Don't let ATT determine how much exposure you get, pay some money and make it happen. Nokia and SE should look to Apple and Blackberry to see that a little advertising can do. People really don't care what ...

With regard to the first statement I will agree that they don't want to pay for a phone but then again neither does any human being if they don't have to. Which is nice for the customers of Vodafone, Orange, O2, T-Mobile, among others because they can get these phones subsidized to nothing or in some cases nearly nothing.

What I'm saying while trying to compare apples to apples is people across the ponds can get these phones subsidized on contracts less than we can for some crappy phones. They do subsidize heavily they just don't do it over here because they know we have the money to spend more so than other countries.

Maybe it is SE or Nokia not willing to budge and maybe they do need to advertise. Maybe it is the fact that a c...

I agree with the sweet sweet love with LG and Samsung comment...by the way I personlly think SAMSUNG is the worse phone line you can get i have had bad luck after bad luck with them. Poor call quality bad reception and poor sound.

SE and NOKIA just make a better product but Americans will not pay for them because we are technologically challenedged when it comes to the masses and need everything overly simplified.

not that I am disagreeing with your white screen statement but...

Football (soccer) stinks so bad that the English Premier League has more viewers a year than any other sports league (including within the US) in the world. That must suck huh? Who would want that lol.

On a sad note yesterday my K850i was stolen from me in my store in York, PA. I truly do hate scumbags like this guy. If anyone knows the whereabouts of the phone I am putting out a reward offer for the phone to come back in working condition.

Well I am going to catch hell for this but Manchester United.

Why?

Because Leeds United went down and Alan Smith is one of my all time favorites because let's face it the guy is full of intensity regardless of how horrible his injury was, he never lets up.

And then he went to United and they had an American Goalie at the time, Tim Howard, who well we know now is between the pipes at Everton.

Plus I am huge England national team fan and well they have Ferdinand, Neville, Scholes use to play for the National team, Carrick, Owen Hargreaves, and well of course Rooney.

So I am partial to the Red Devils.

I can't hate, however I'm a Liverpool supporter. Stevie G is the man he plays with a lot of heart. July 4, 2007 was a great day for me because of the acquisition of Fernando Torres. He has been a godsend and even though we finished a spot lower this year he was the bright spot of the year. I also like Xabi Alonso, Carragher, Dirk Kuyt(Kuijt), and Pepe Reina is not bad even though he gets caught out of position sometimes. I despise Everton(not Howard and I find myself liking Tim Cahill). My father is from Italy so I'm an Italian national supporter. Euro 2008 was rough on Italy except for beating the frogs. It was a shame about England not making it through and all they had to do was draw against Croatia in that final group stage game.

Yeah I watched the Spain v. Italy game and was surprised that Spain finally pulled off something.

Yeah I wouldn't expect you to be much of an Everton fan if you support Liverpool lol.

yes well Gerrard is Gerrard and there isn't anyone that can take away the class that man holds on and off the pitch. For any England supporter, you always are looking to him.

They should have fired Mclaren after they got rid of Sven. I can't believe they didn't qualify.
