Can I Port My Phone No's Over Now??

My Verizon contract is up on Feb. 20, and has a $175 penalty for early cancellation. I'll be changing to Cingular this time and my new phones are already on the way. If I go ahead and transfer my phone no's now will Verizon see that as early cancellation??...I would of course continue my Verizon payments thru the last invoice. Is there a way I can switch now w/o penalty? Thanks for any replies.

Check with Verizon. Every carrier has their own T&Cs. My guess is that they will apply it even if you cancel one day early. I could be wrong tho.

No you are right on the money, we have dealt with VZW in the past, they will charge you the full ETF...

And then don't forget that when you do cancel/port, you might be charged thru the end of your current billing cycle, even tho you won't be using Verizon's service for the entire cycle.

That's they way AWS does it as well.

Your best bet is to check with your carrier and find out directly from them.
