What's that familiar smell?

Ah yes, Iphone mania. Sucks being an indirect this time of year. I'm already being hammered with questions as to why they can't get a phone with me now and exchange it for the Iphone on the 11th. *Sigh*

Follow this up with, will you call them (a cor store) and reserve one for me? How much are they? What do they do? Will it be better than the Tilt?

Pardon my Cor envy. Granted, I'm sure you guys get your fair share of advertising lemmings suffering from Iphone mania too.

We're in the same boat, my good friend. I'll just keep trying my hardest to flip them into a tilt/blackberry... It works occassionally... can't overpower the fanboys though...

No, they have that apple stink on them. They are all hopped up on the pod talk. I thought about pushing the Vu. We'll see how it works out.

With that attitude, it's probably a wise choice by Apple and AT&T not to have you mall kiosk jockeys selling the iPhone. Hope that overpriced and overrated Vu pays your bills for ya.

Why should we be excited about a phone we neither sell, nor activate, nor service, nor troubleshoot? An iPhone customer might as well be a Verizon customer for all we can do for them.

What's even more frustrating than that is the lack of clarification to potential iPhone customers. They're all confused and come to the agents with their questions.

Also, you shouldn't bash the Vu. It is a better phone, at a better price than the original iPhone. The new version has a leg up with GPS service, but that's it. BUT regardless of which phone we sold, it wouldn't pay the bills. Our pay is barely above minimum wage.

It's not a matter of caring about the device you don't sell but your attitude...

If someone comes into my location asking for an iPhone I refer them to the nearby Apple store, but I also try and sell them a different device. I do it because it's my job. My store and myself have bills to pay and I'd be doing a disservice to my employer if I didn't at least try to talk them into a different phone. I know it's high pressure, but that's why my nametag says "sales" on it.

I don't get why people will come into different stores for service when they bought it somewhere else. Sure, there are a few rational reasons like you were or are travelling, but why on earth would you seek support from anywhere else than where you bought it? It's rude as hell, but I suck it up and do answer what I can. Where the iPhone is concerned, I r...

Naw, I used the term more for sensationalism. I'm not an Iphone fan, nor am I a hater. I do however get tired of silly questions that persist. I of course answer them to the best of my ability, but how much do I actually know? Asking me details on price availability, quality of the product is the same as going into sprint and asking them what my phones would cost. They have no idea. Neither do I. I answer what I can if they insist on that particular product and suggest they go to cor. My post was more in regards to those who persist with Why Can't You yada yada yada in the face of my admitted ignorance on the subject.

You said it Joe! Blackberry's are the last device to be an iPhone or any other phone killer. Lord knows how popular that track ball has been let alone paying the extra $10 to $15 a month on top of the data plan for the privilege of using that blackberry services that seems to be OUT every other week.

ok. so then lets pay $30 for data even if you dont live in a 3g service area. lets put out a new phone that STILL doesnt have MMS. lets all assume that since a small group a iNerds want and think this phone is teh roxxor, that it is really the best device. 🙄

obviously you have never heard of buying the device that suits your needs. or you are too att blind to see that there are other phones out there and coming out that do more than the iphone does, and that they do it better.

then again, i wouldnt want to have you walk outta mommy's basement and see the light of day that is reality. stay in your lil "iphone is perfect" skewed world. its ok by me. just one less person i have to deal with

If don't live in AT&T's 3G area then don't by a 3G phone. None of their current blackberry's are 3G but you'd still be paying the same data rate as any device that does pickup 3G.

It's already been demonstrated that the data prices are the same... As for 3G, the Bold will be out soon, very soon.

🤣 Just because it has a touch screen doesn't make people want it. Brand Recognition sells. I am a fan of the Blackberry, but they don't match the Iphone. Not to mention the price difference. Blackberry only really appeals to some.

Blackberries are already loosing some ground with corporate users in our office with the Exchange feature due on the iPhone next month. Especially since you don't have the pay for the extra BB data plan and the additional expenses involving running a BES.

Pretty sure if you have read any iphones news, the iphone is gonna have an enterprise plan that cost 45 bucks. Just like the blackberry, iphones are gonna cost just as much as any other pda data plan. I work for a cor store by the way and I really do feel bad for the agents. And for the person that made the remarks about grumpy agents......You obviously have never been to a cor store in dallas texas. Almost every store is rude, even the people I work with. The customers just take it though and smile sooooooo I dunno. I worked for an agent before so all of these sweeping generalizations bug the **** of me. Their is rude/stupid people at cor and indirect.

The Enterprise data plan I wasn't sure of but I'm not sure why it should cost anymore than that of the Tilt? I have always paid more for Blackberry data than I have my WM devices. On top of that, that back end expense for us IT folks are licenses for those Berrys to run on the BES. So no matter how you slice it, BES and Berrys are far more expensive to run than Exchange AS solutions.

I hear ya on Dallas. I live in Arlington and most of the people in the COR stores are pretty nice. Most of Dallas residence seem to be adopting a New York attitude. Honestly, most of the experience with indirect has been the kiosks at the malls and I have found many of them to be deceptive and dismissive to what I really want and will tell you anything you w...

With AT&T Blackberry data ran $10 less a month than the general PDA plan. Recently that changed to being the same rate. You wouldn't have paid more in data with AT&T. I can't speak for other companies though.

I was once in the same boat as you, envious of the corporate store. But once I got there it wasn't all it's cracked up to be (depending on the company). I got threatened, treated like sh*t by management, & it was very stressful. But then again, it was Sprint in an affiliate market! So, it sucked both ways! That's what she said!

I feel your pain. I also work for an authorized retailer. You really have to face the facts though. The iPhone hype is what pulls those customers into your store. A tip that I use when a customer asks for the iPhone is I just give the customer a break down of the features when put up against other phones. After telling the customer that they're going to have to give up their MMS that Black Berry don't look so bad anymore. I'm not bashing the iPhone what so ever. I tell the customer its a wonderful device. But I am sure to inform them of how much they're spending and what they're getting for the money. The customer is gonna get what they want. It's just my job to make sure they're well informed on the products. But like I said, during my sale...

Actually I just remembered that I have a couple of customers who use their blackberrys without the data plan and are able to send MMS. I have a problem getting customers in my area to take the blackberry internet plan. I'm guessing its because I live in the buttcrack of Alabama where people are still afraid of this "internet stuff" as they so call it. They love those full keyboards for texting, and they like to look important. But that's another story. How I got it setup was they must have a m...
