Is AT&T worth switching to?

I'm currently with another carrier and I'm tired of them. I know just a handful of people that have at&t as a service provider. But I would like to know what the masses think.

Thanks in advance for your honest opinion.

I like at&t...I am in NC and I get great coverage... I have had no issues with them... Never had anything wrong with my bill.. The only issue I have is with the workers at the store in my hometown....they are so unfriendly and rude b****es.... but the one in the mall is cool... Overall I like at&t alot better than my previous carriers... Good Luck

I work for the company and I don't have them for my service but I can honestly say they are not horrible like some people make them out to be. There are an assortment of tools for you to use... The reps in some stores are usually aholes I know this for my own experience calling them. And they sometimes promise things that aren't happening. Which I hate, but getting back to you. It would be best if you try it for 30days, and do some research into it. We have an assortment of phones, and some okay rate plans.

I never understood why employees of a carrier didn't have the carrier they work for as a service. I think I'm going to take the plunge, and try it for 30 days. More than anything I'm tired of waiting for my current carrier to get new phones. With me living where I live, all the carriers have about the same level of service.

One of the really great things about ATT is you NEVER have to go into a store or speak to a rep. I have not been in an ATT store in years nor have I had to call customer service. My last contract was for a pair of Sony T637s. Since then we have been buying our phones unlocked and unbranded new and used from HoFo members and recommended retailers.

Why don't I have AT&T as my service? Simply for the reason that A) I was with another carrier before I worked for AT&T, and unless you're going to pay the ETF's then I'm not moving.
B) My carrier has not been very troublesome for me.

And as for other people they feel they get better deals or might have something "grandfathered" on their account that works best for them, or just simply love the service at the other carrier and see no reason to switch.

Not sure why it would matter or why people look at it as something bad. Just because I work for the carrier does not mean I need to have their service.

I was just wondering. I like the fact that I can switch phones by simply swapping my sim card.

I have another question: What is the big difference between att and tmobile?

AT&T is bigger than T-mobile. Coverage AT&T is better. AT&T has more towers and spectrum than T-mobile and finally, faster data speeds.

Thanks! I think I'm going to make the switch tomorrow. Here locally, Radio Shack has a deal where I can get the curve for 50 bucks with a pda plan once I sign a 2 year. I know there's horror stories for every carrier. I don't travel across the pond, I very rarely leave the city, so I feel that service will be just as good as the service I have now. The big difference will be that I'll save about 30 bucks a month.

I have hear that T-Mobile doesn't use towers any more. They are using Sattelite's to send their signals with. I tend to believe it's true as T-Mobile was "suppose" to put a tower nearby about 4 months ago and now they are not going to.

No, someone had said T-Mobile was using Sattelites. I believed them and the tower that was going in by us is not there. So assumed it to be true.

I worked for Tmobile for awhile, and even tho they offered a line of service for almost nothing, I kept my old carrier because their coverage is AWFUL. 😕

Check their detailed map for coverage at the street level where you live, work, and play. If you like what you see and are a phone power user. ATT is worth it. If you want service where the buffalo Roam and never experience a dropped call. ATT is not a good choice.

IF you are coming from a CDMA carrier you will be very surprised at the freedom and flexibility a GSM carrier offers on every level. In particular phone choices. You are not tied into the carrier's phone choices...

I would say try it and use that policy that they have so you can evaluate for yourself because we all had experiences that will differ from yours and others. For example, AT&T for the most part worked ok in my area so I got rid of them while in some other areas they could be awesome. So yea.

No, it is not at all worth the switch. AT&T has lots of dead spots, even when their web sites claims coverage is great in those areas. AT&T charges a lot more for service. They cancel customer accounts if they use too much data or roam too much.

Sprint and T-Mobile add customers because they have cheaper plans and services. Verizon adds customers because their network is more dependable. AT&T adds customers by lieing and cheating customers into contracts. AT&T doesn't offer anything at all that makes then stand out. Unless you count a high price tag as a standout feature.

If you have money to waste, then by all means go with AT&T.

For some reason I get a feeling you don't like AT&T too much; and that's cool. However, when you come here to say: 'Sprint adds customers...' you make yourself look fool.
You made me laugh though. I needed that, had a very busy day.

Show me a carrier that doesn't have dead spots, we don't claim not to have any. If it doesn't work in your area, don't get it. That's the same thing with the data or roaming. If your always roaming, get the carrier your roaming with. And if your using that much data it's most likely not for a common reason. All carriers not have a data cap. We don't necessarily cancel either, they audit, reassign to the correct data plan, and if the customer declines we allow them to cancel, and without penalty.

Charge a lot more for service? Our price plans are the same thing as Verizon's.

If we lie and cheat then I would hope a customer would realize that we did such a thing within thirty days of their contract and cancel it with no penalty.

AT...

AT&T, let's see, overall I give them a 3.5 out of 5. They are not bad. They did overcharge me when I signed up. My first billing cycle was only 3 days, and they charged me for a full month and I never got that back.

Signal wise, it is ok. Sometimes I have great coverage, other times my phone breaks out so bad, I'd like to set my hair on fire.

Another thing, I am on their smallest plan, I have over 2,000 rollover minutes and I can't convince them to put me on an...

AT&T does offer a $29.99 plan.

Only customer care, COR, and the retention department have access to it.

250 daytime with no rollover and 1000 nights and weekends. Still a nationwide plan.

So no need to switch when we can make it happen.

On this specific point, it's important to note that AT&T bills monthly service charges IN ADVANCE. Your first bill will typically have a pro-rated monthly charge for the first partial cycle AND a full month's monthly recurring charges for the next bill cycle.

By the same tune, if you cancel in mid cycle, you are entitled to a credit for the pro-rated portion of the MRC for the remaining months.

It does tend to make the first bill look rather daunting, though, p...

Yeah if the coverage is bad....I understand

But CUSTOMER SERVICE...I guess you Verizon fan-boys speak with CS a lot. Anyone on ATT will tell you they rarely have to speak to CS. They can buy their phones offline and really have no need to deal with CS unless they can't read a book or live from upgrade to upgrade.....

One of the reasons I chose ATT even though I live in a marginal calling area is becasue I don't NEED them to do anything. Hav not upgraded sine the T637 and have not even talked with anyone from ATT maybe 3 times since then.....

You guy have to call Verizon everytime you take a crap. They ha...
