Intena Replacement

GinoA

The intena on my v400 is broken. It doesn't screw properly. The phone is less then a year old. I dont have insurance, but I was wondering if I went to a cingular store or called customer service could they send me an intena. Is it covered by the warranty? I think it'd be a bit stupid to file an insurance claim over an intena. Any advice on what to do? Please and thanks in advance!

umm sorry for misspelling the word? I don't need your neggative remark for a simple mis-spelling. All I did was ask a simple question and wanted a simple answer, and if you cant help then dont bother to post rude comments.

I don't think that a broken antenna would be covered under warranty, and I don't think that customer care could send you a replacement antenna. I think your only choice is to purchase a new phone.

Warranty doesnt cover physical damage to a phone. As for buying one...im not sure where you could get one CC doesnt have them. Sorry and GL.

I've checked with Motorola - they don't send out antennas, nor will they even sell them - they require you to send in the phone to Motorola to get it repaired.

Customer service # for Motorola is 866-289-6686.

If you don't have insurance, you're bohica'd. That's damage that voids the warranty. Best bet is calling Moto. Or, you could do a warranty exchange, and get billed for the repair cost... That way you get a replacement first.

just go to a company owned store. all the ones I know of will just give you a spare antenna out of the junk box. the v400 is a screw in one...not a big deal. If not, drive down to Lousiana and i'll give you one out of my store

That's cool of you, Joef3. I hope it's just the antenna and not the threads on the phone itself... 🙂

chances are it's the threads on the phone. the antenna itself has metal threads, the phone's are plastic. i dont know why people find it necessary to take their antennas off not to mention so much that the threads strip. if the threads are stripped, you are better off calling in an insurance claim. to replace the back housing on the phone runs around $50 anyhow, and you are without a phone for a day or 2. better yet, you could just glue it in and save youself the money 😉

Lol yeah maybe I should glue that stupid thing back on. I figured they would give me an antenna out of their junk box (cingular store) but they said its physical damage. It still screws on, but doesnt tighten. I can pull it off basically. There's no damage to the phone so I dont know. I'll just buy one of them flashing antennas from the little kiosks at the mall. Thanks for all the help.

Did you find an antenna yet? If you still need one, let me know.
