Curve issues

I have an 8310 which I replaced a week ago through warranty. I had no problem for the first 5 days but since Friday my phone has started to delete phone logs and sms (fortunately not e-mails yet). Do I need to replace it again or is this a network issue because I have sold this phone to a lot of customers backing the berry over the iphone and others. Now this is a problem I haven't seen with the pearl so it leads me to believe that it is a phone issue. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. No problem with calls I still think the berry makes the best overall phone in terms of calling.

When the memory on Blackberry phones gets used up, it starts deleting your text messages and call logs. Get a memory card for your phone, store your pictures and whatnot on the memory card, and you shouldn't have that problem any more.

Are the pictures and whatnot being saved to the phone or to the card? Just because a card is in the phone doesn't mean that the phone is utilizing it.

i had the same problem and replaced mine. the second one did it as well. rob was right, the phone can only hold so much. email is vital so it is spared from deletion but with attachments and stuff it fills up and the first things to go are phone log and messages. after i started noticing it doing this i was better about deleting messages with attachments and stuff and the phone worked fine.

There are setting you can adjust to store messages longer. You need to check all the menus and get to know your way around. 🙂

I have the curve and it has not happened to me. I have had it since the 8310 came out. I had the pearl before and it did it every couple of weeks. just like other people have said i have heard that having a memory card helps. Otherwise i would just suggest cleaning it out of unneeded messages every once in awhile and that might help.. hope it gets better cuz i know it is annoying!

The BlackBerry is set to reserve a large portion of the device memory for media files. As a result, messages are being removed to free up space.

Reduce the amount of device memory available for media files and reduce the number of media files on your BlackBerry. To do so, complete the following steps:

1. On the BlackBerry smartphone home screen, click Media.

2. Select a media type (Music, Video, Ringtones, Pictures).

3. Press the Menu key and select Options.

4. Reduce the value set in the Device Memory Limit field. This field sets the maximum amount of device memory available for all media files.

5. Reduce the value set in the Reserved Pictures Memory field or verify it’s set to 12 MB (it’s lowest setting.) T...

You have to do that for each individual media type (musi, video, ringtones pics) BTW.

If its not set to the lowest setting in each media type the phone will think its low on memory even if its not....should fix the problem.

I've had many customers with this problem as well as my own curve and have spent hrs. with BB tech support on this. What worked for me was simply backing up all your information then reinstalling all the software. It's not only a curve problem, it also happened with the 8800 series.

This has been happening with my Curve as well. The main thing is that I don't have anything in my memory that should be causing this (few ringtones, two pictures), and I delete all my emails and SMS daily. I have about 120MB free on the device aside from 3rd party programs I use, so this shouldn't happen.

its doing that because your memory is full. go to options and status and under free memory if it says 0 then something is still on your phone. ringtones auto save to your phone. pictures do as well until you change the setting. also themes, games, memos, emails, all save to phone. so go through and delete all unvital information. also hold alt and hit lglg. then hit menu and delete your log this is like your phones cookies. and delete internet cookies and that should free up alot of memory. or you can hold alt and hit the back button and see what all is running and shut stuff off. hope this helps
