Thought this deserved it's own thread for discussion.

According to that site, they're looking for petential plaintiffs... Any thoughts?

The marketing that this article is addressing is for a specific plan. There are still plans that will charge roaming. Local plans will charge Roaming when the user goes out of thier calling area. National plans will charge roaming if the customer decides to go to Canada or Mexico. The No roaming, no Long distance advertising is very specificly worded to only include the Cingular Nation GSM calling plans and doesn't include cingular region gsm, or cingular north america calling packages. These two packages don't honor roaming agreements with other GSM providers where the Cingular GSM Nation does. Really it sounds to me that this group is looking for a reason to reach into a deep pocket. It sounds to me like one of those frivolous lawsu...

I see. So you don't know of anyone with a Cingular Nation GSM calling plan that has incurred a roaming charge? Just curious. And yes, I agree, with most frivolous lawsuits, no one really gains - more of a mud-throwing contest.

If such a person received roaming charges on that plan we would be happy to credit those charges. 🙂

You bet!

However, something wierd I've been seeing since 15 Nov... IF the customer calls 411 while outside their home area, the charge for calling 411 is listed under ROAMING... 😕

I haven't experienced anybody on the Cingular Nation GSM Plan being charged roaming (except when they go to canada and that is fun to explain).

i wouldn't be suprised if they didn't. I get 2 calls about it a MONTH. A MONTH.

GAH. I had one guy actually say that it was "ridiculous for you to charge for calls to canada"

I posted it somewhere.

I know someone who is on a nation plan and got charges for roaming. Cingular wouldnt reimburse him for the charges and were asssholes to him when he called. He moved from north carolina to niagra falls, ny. when he used his phone in niagra falls, cingular claimed he was in canada and charged him international roaming rates, hes never been to canada and as a matter of factly, aint allowed in canada. Turned out to be a very bad situation. Thank goodness we offer more then just Cingular, we will be switching him over to a new carrier next month when his contract expires. sometimes i dont get cingular, you call customer service and you can get the best rep in the world, other times you call in you wish you could see that rep face to face s...

Yeah, that should have been credited. If you live close to the border, or travelled close to the border, it's called fringe roaming. Did he only speak to that one rep, or did he call in again? All I can do is apologize. But there's not hing I can do. And I have this sinking feeling that you'll flame me for being a cingualr rep.

And with the slapping...This is why I have a pseudo name.

He called several times and, as his agent and good friend, I also called. He paid the bill, the real problem was the attitudes given, no explanation on why his phone roamed off a canadian tower and his brothers didnt, they just didnt want to help rectify the problem. Very unfortunate for me because Ive always pushed Cingular, they are the company I like the most, I have a Cingular line. I just hope there arent very many cases like this because that 46 million strong wont stay that way. Im sure you guys get your share of headaches but sometimes a little common courtesy and respect to the customer goes a long way. Nothing against you but I know some reps havent figured that out.

I've run into the same problem in Texas when people in el paso roam off a juarez tower. The solution to this problem is to add on ICR to the customers account the first time the roaming is credited. Roaming is usually credited, and if not I've always been able to call back and find someone to do it. Anyway, ICR is the solution. International call restriction.

Okay kiddies, here's how it works. Your podunk lawyers got to town. And promptly realize that Cingular's legal team will eat their babies.

It's just that simple 😈

and subscribers will get squat. My guess that the average claimant will be entitled to somewhere around $7.82, with the law firm garnering somewhere around 10 million.

I've never seen Cingular not credit improper roaming charges. I have had a few complainers say that the commercials advertise no roaming, and I always have to explain that it is with the "new gsm nation plans", and the plan is not available on their 2 year old tdma phone. Things get huffy and puffy until I pull up the account plan info and tell them they are on the "preferred nation plan" that will get roaming charges when the phone says roam or extend. This also is usually explained in their contract as well. This lawsuit will go nowhere.

Someone who reads their bills AMAZING. I never understand why customer call in about things that are printed on their bill (like Early terminations fees or billing to end of bill cycle in a port out situation) then when you refer them to their correct invoice page number and all they say well i don't read my bill that's your job to read the bills i just pay them. You can't hold me responsible for that. HELLO WE DON'T PRINT YOUR BILLS FOR OUR BENEFIT!!!!!!! WE SEND THEM TO YOU SO YOU CAN READ THEM and if there is a problem politly call us and we can fix it more then willingly for you.

WHY DO CUSTOMERS FIND IT SO DAMN HARD TO READ. Then they ask me if i read my bills and i'm like yup i review every call and any extra charges that appea...

......wow......

It's like also saying "I'm going to sue because tehre are places that I can't use my phone when I'm in Montana and Nebraska. I'm on the Nation plan, and I can't use it. One of my cows died because I could call for the travelling vet to come give it some medicine!"

There are limits on all plans. When people get the plans, they are told what the limits are. I'm sure there may be a couple people out there that signed up on the internet and didn't bother reading the details on the plan they purchased...but as for the others I would be willing to bet that the reps they talked to told them about the roaming on the plans.

It's another pathetic example of why lawyers are a dime-a-dozen now and have the reputation they have. ...

PS To all the lawyers that are out there, you're not all bad--just a few bad apples spoil the bunch if you know what I mean.

Many people would say the same thing about wireless carriers too. People rarely remember the nice rep. People ALWAYS remember the nasty one! (same can be said about customers)
