Unlocked phones work on 3G?
Thinking of picking up the N95, US version, and wondering if it would work on AT&T's network. I read on a thread here that unlocked phones work on EDGE only, any truth to this?

I would say there is no truth to this.
I carry an unlocked sony ericsson k850. my phone is fully functional with the wap and mms settings. When I am in an area where 3g is available, the phone displays so. Since I live where there is edge only, the speeds are significantly different from edge to 3g.
Make sure its has the UMTS 850/1900 mhz bands. Since it is a US version, you should be ok.
My Nokia rep carries an n95, the good news about it (and all unlocked Nokias) is when you pop in your at&t sim, all of your mms/wap settings are automatically provisioned. It is a great phone!!

Yep it is! ! ! I've had an N95-3 for 3 months now, and paid $572 for mine, not too bad considering I,ve seen them go for well over $600!

I believe that, as long as you have a 3G SIM, it should be able to pull from 3G.

All day Long....Thats a monster phone. I know. You have to get the one with 3G for the US though. the 8GB model.
I bought the N82. No American 3G. But i don't use it much for data as the WiFi is just as good.

Well guess what! I'm replying to you on an N95 right now and it says 3G in the upper left corner of my screen.
I suggest you getting 1 or 2 spare batteries though, they're less than $20 each on ebay.
