3G iphone
hey guys, i know that the 16GB iphone is the newest iphone that just came out. i work for an at&t COR store, but my manager nor any of the employees know when the new 3G iphone will come out. All i hear is rumors and people saying "oh its coming out next month" etc.. just talk you know. if anything comes out new we the COR store will know before consumer. Where is all this info coming from??? is there any fact? because i would like to know. People all over are "claiming" that the new 3G iphone will be out next month or so. if your an at&t employee i would like your opinion etc... what fact and whats fiction.

The iPhone 2 will probably be a huge announcement by Apple. Since the beginning of 2008, they have made an announcement every Tuesday. It is a good bet that the iPhone 2 will be announced on a Tuesday as well. The first information will probably be announced on Apple.com and then it will be released in CSP. Although, websites like Engadget, PhoneScoop and Boy Genius Report will probably have more info than CSP. When the iPhone was announced, CSP had very little info. In fact, I got most of my info from the sites above.
As for when iPhone 2 will be released, most of the rumors I have heard (including speculation on CNET) is August or September. I agree. It will be just over a year since the original iPhone was released and it will be about...

well i just bought the 16BG iphone and love it! its working wonders for me. but man! it sucks to spend your money and then have something else come out you know?? to be honest.. i dont really use the net. and i dont wanna dish out another $500 bucks. what about u?

Unfortunately, that is the way technology works. By the time you get something, it is obsolete. Apple is especially good at introducing "updated" products. Just look at the iPod and MacBooks. They seem to be "updated" every six months or so. That is one reason I do not have an iPod. I'm afraid that when I get one, they will bring out a better one the next day.

yeah but you gotta admit, apple back up their products though and their name too. apple is a pretty good. but i didnt get much info of of CSP either, i had to search CNET etc.. to get my info. And my managers go by the CSP for info lol. oh well... i do everything on my iphone, except browse the web much.. i barely do that. just to check myspace and facebook lol.

According to a very good source, the 3G iPhone hasn't even been sent to ATT for testing before launch. This source says that you will see a 3G Blackberry waaaaaay before you will see a 3G iPhone (June/July maybe?).

Update: 3G iPhone is done but hasn't even been sent to ATT for testing. Could be international first then North America. My source says maybe XMas '08. Sorry to pull the rug out from under you. Just got the news last night from a very good source.

I also work for AT&T and i havnt heard any word on when the Iphone will be released but i have heard from management the it will bee released by november. There is no chance in hell it will be released next month, that is incorrect. Apple wants to make money off there product so it wouldnt make sence for them to release Iphone 2 before anybody can upgrade so that is what apple is waiting for to release.

i hear you, thats what im saying, didnt they just released iphone (not even a year), and not too long...maybe a couple weeks ago they released the 16GB iphone and called it the new iphone. because it doesnt make sense. apple is making a lot of money from the 16GB, people are getting rid of there old iphones to get the 16GB. plus if anything is going to be released it going to be a holiday. and the 3G iphone will probably around...$699 LOL!!

Considering you work for ATT you would think you would know ATT policy about Iphone. You can upgrade to IPhone any time you want. You can buy an Iphone any time you want. Does not matter if you are eligible for an upgrade or not the Iphone is the same price and there is no discount on it what so ever.
If you loose your Iphone, are a new customers, old customers it does not matter the price is the same for everyone. The second you plug in the Iphone into Itunes it will re-up your contract for an extra 2 years for that date. Does not matter if you are new customer, been with ATT 1 year and have 1 year left on your contract or 1 day left you will have a new 2 year contract from the date you activated the Iphone.

You can upgrade to an iPhone at any point. You could've just signed up last week and you'd still be eligible to upgrade to the iPhone. It does require a new 2 year agreement and it WILL affect future upgrades. Unless you upgrade to another iPhone, it will be the standard 18 months before you can upgrade again at a discount. You can buy a phone at full retail anytime without a contract (except the iPhone). The price is the same if you are a new customer or existing.

He could have some inside sources that are either top level AT&T or Apple execs. Or he could be bsing you. It is common knowledge that the iPhone 2 has been in development since before the iPhone was released. It is very possible that they have a prototype and Apple is testing it. AT&T would still test it before they released it though. If bwag717 is right, I believe that AT&T will be getting the iPhone 2 to test in the next couple months. I stick by my prediction of a September release.
