Cingular migration experience

I recently found myself wanting to upgrade from my ATTWS Motorola v60 on the old TDMA network to a phone with more capablilties, specifically internet.
I went to the 2 Cingular stores in my city, one of which was always a Cingular store, and one of which has always been Cingular. The reps I interacted with in the always Cingular store were not knowlegeable at all, and rather blase about helping. However, in the other store, I happened to hookup with 2 reps, both of whom were possessed of considerable technical expertice. I decided on a Motorola v551, and made the deal, and my phone worked IMMEDIATELY. The whole experience in that store was quite pleasurable (this was a few days prior to Christmas).
Over the ensuing interim of time, ...

Lol, most people only post bad experiences. I'm glad to hear a good word though. Most of the horror stories are phones that are ordered, or from speaking with uninformed sales rep. Stores will always give you a better experience. I'm very glad taking the time to speak with somebody in a store made your experience more enjoyable. There will always be poor stores, such as the one you visited first, but you did the right thing by walking out and trying another. I also applaud you taking the time to research your decision and get a phone that suited you best. Sales reps should have the time to educate consumers, but doing so on your own time makes the process go even smoother.

What I am trying to say is that I am A+ satisfied both with the sales experience as well as the service from the carrier thus far. Is this that unusual for this company, or is it just that people only tend to post negative experiences? Just wondering.

yes, people tend to only notify everyone when they have a negative experience, rather than every positive one.

Thanks you're right, people do tend to have good expieriences, just no one generally posts it, the only thing i would have to say is be careful with your choice, lockline theinsurance carrier won't insure that phone, and any issues over warranty, you would need to contact Research In Motion, RIM who make the blackberry data phones

I'm currently a VZW customer on a monthly basis, so I went to a couple of Cingular stores to look at equipment and get pricing information on my company's sponsored plans. It was night and day compared to Verizon. Cingular reps were friendly, professional, and knowledgeable and I actually got consistent information from 2 stores. The Cingular rep took great pains to figure out how best to utilize my corporate plan (orange vs. blue).

On the other hand, talking to the VZW reps at the VZW store was like dealing with sleazy used car salesmen. They were not very knowledgeable and the information given was inconsistent between people at the store and at *611 customer "service". I eventually had second thoughts about GSM coverage in central NJ,...
