The LG Shine is the nicest one out of that selection.

😕 Slide phones, in my experience, are not anywhere close to durable.

I would suggest the 6126 for you, although the 6555 has a better mp3 player, I've heard better things for coverage on the 6126.
For him I would suggest trying out the Sony w580i. He would need a case if he is hard on it. (its not known for being durable, although hasn't proven to be fragile either). That phone is LOUD. It has pic and ringer id, also video clip id (he can take a video clip of someone and use it has their caller id) Its also a slider and should get good coverage, although not as good as the nokia.
Out of the three you chose I would have to say LG Shine, simply because I know it. I don't know what the 6131 is and am always a bit cautious when it comes to Motos.

I would never suggest an LG or SE phone for someone looking for great reception. the Shine is cool looking, but I doubt the reception is any good on it...I would recommend the nokia N75, great reception, great mp3 player, organizer is VERY user friendly. Its a bit complicated looking at first, but once you use it, you get used to it. For the hubby, see if he likes the Motorola V365, its part of a line of phones they have had goig for a while, v400, v551, v557, all had great reception. The durability factor on the v365 is FANTASTIC. My brother uses it, drops it all the time, never has a problem.

"I would never suggest an LG or SE phone for someone looking for great reception."

Are you serious? SE phones are just about up to par with nokia....

Considering GSM was invented by Nokia and erricson before the perger with sony, those 2 are by far the best when it comes to coverage.

And to the post by CC, you hit it perfectly. I would have made the same recommendation.
